how to do accents in linux : á é à ã õ, â etc and also a cedilla : ç.
Thank you
-
That depends entirely on the keyboard layout you have.
Assuming you've done the updates you should have at the top of your login screen:
Session[LXQt] Layout [Pick Your layout][Pick active group within layout - dual-shift will also change] [test layout to check empty box]
Within the layouts we've also mapped the unprinted things in some places to possibly useful letters and 'dead keys' to let you get particular accenting with an extra key press, but again different for each layout.
There are a few layouts (just the sub 10 backer count ones) that no one has done yet.

My layout is US, US keyboard.
But I am not able to do accents like ã, á and so, cedilla.
What is the shortcut to produce these accents ?
Thank you so much !

I won't speak for what Adam has mapped, but I know that even on a full keyboard some of these are a little difficult to find. I don't know how frequently you use them, so this may not be a solution, but I'm using a lot of KDE applications (they run nicely with KWin and LXQt) and one of the utilities that is available in KDE is KCharSelect, which lets you pick individual characters of just about every sort. I find it quite useful, but I use such characters only from time to time, maybe once a day, such as a few minutes ago when I needed an ë for the name Zoë in a caption.
But again, this may be of no help at all to you.

The layouts are available here:
https://github.com/gemian/xkeyboard-config/...net_vndr/gemini (https://github.com/gemian/xkeyboard-config/blob/stretch/symbols/planet_vndr/gemini)
But are possibly not the easiest to read for US layout the following should work (its the same as the UK one with a couple of tweaks):
Fn+Shift+H a = ä
Fn+Shift+J a = â
Fn+Shift+L a = ǎ
Fn+Shift+\ a = á
Fn+Shift+Z a = ạ
Fn+Shift+M a = à
Fn+Shift+M a = à
Fn+Shift+? a = ã
Note that not all these characters work in QTerminal, so I had to flip to LibreOffice Writer to check some of them.
I also set the default keyboard map to run gucharmap on the fn+Sym key combination, this could easily be changed to the kde equivalent from the lxqt config Shortcut Keys editor.
We are probably early enough in peoples getting used to the keyboard layouts that we could swap round what the keyboard layouts are doing, as I only speak English I don't know what are the popular letters in other languages so the above selection of dead key mappings was somewhat random and influenced by the existing Linux keyboard maps.

Interesting is that I set : us keyboard with dead keys in lxqt settings( keyboard and mouse ) and also in /etc/defaul/keyboard , but no accents is possible.
If someone already has configured to be able to get accents, please post here. Thank you.

Solved my problem , creating my custom keyboard based on macintosh accents : option e (letter ) = dead_acute, option i ( letter ) = dead_circumflex, and so for other accents and ccedilla. Difference is that the option key is ( Fn+shift ).

Thx for sharing @galodoido and @Adam.
Also, doesn't the ´Alt gr´+´{a,b,...}´ keys input some accentuated letters (as well as ´~´+´{a,e,i...}´)? I use these on a ARM Chromebook with ChromeOS (which is based on Gentoo Linux) and US keyboard+layout.
Note « Gemini expedited on June 15. » so I can't check myself, yet.
