I see members of the Facebook group have reported that the Gemini speakers output sound in mono and not stereo. I have confirmed this with my unit. Not a big issue for me, as the headphone and BT sound is definitely stereo.
The Gemini speakers aren't exactly HiFi, so I doubt it would improve the experience if the sound was actually output in stereo......

Thanks for reporting it. I wonder if this is a hardware/wiring issue, or if it can be solved in software...

The fact that users running both Android and Linux have confirmed the issue would suggest it is hardware related......

Although Planet have now responded and claim a software update will be released in the future!

I am new to gemini having a unit build cca 05/2018 with latest android and the sound is for sure stereo - tested with some stereo test videos on youtube. The sound is quite good to me - also there are two holes for each speaker, it is not easy to cover them when you hold the gemini in hands.
