Title: Sim not recognized
Post by: SeanC on June 06, 2018, 12:23:33 pm
Just got my gemini a couple days ago and everything seems to be working fine except the sim shows as empty in both slots in the android settings->sim cards menu. I pulled the sim from my previous phone where it was working just fine and I put it back afterwards and it still works.

A few notes about my setup.
I flashed the dual boot android (rooted) + debian.
I installed a 64gb sd card
I have a nano sim so had to get a converter to micro sim.
I disabled all google apps that I could

What can I do to get the device to recognize my sim? Is there some sort of command I can do to get more information on why it's not detected? Is there a test I can do to make sure it's not a hardware issue?

Borrow a micro SIM from somebody.

It shouldn't matter but the nano SIMs are slightly thinner than the normal & micro jobs so it's possible (but unlikely) that it's not making contact properly.

Pro tip: Don't flash until you've checked everything works as it should. A bit late for you but not for others.

I went to T-Mobile today and they told me all there SIM cards are the same, they just break away into each format (micro/nano). They gave me the breakaway piece and it didn’t work both in the way of fitting my nano sim perfectly and still wasn’t detected in the phone. I also reformatted back to just android and not a dual boot. The esim shows up in the options now but sim1 the normal sim still says it’s empty.
I don’t have a friend with a real micro sim as no phones made in the last 3-4 years has used one, everything is nano sim in the states nowadays. I guess I’ll try getting a replacement sim and see if that works.
