I was ssh'd in, over USB ethernet emulation mode, and typed in "sudo init 6" to reboot, and nothing happened.... for a long time! screen was blank, didn't respond to ESCape/ON/OFF (but I didn't force it).
after what seemed like forever, probably only 30 to 40 seconds, it did reboot by itself

I found the same behavior as well. DId your screen just freeze and unit was unresponsive?

If you've ever used Debian on a desktop you'll have noticed that sometimes it refuses to halt/shutdown with a text message saying that its failed to stop some specific service with a timeout (upto 2mins) whilst it waits for it to gracefully stop.
We have the same issue, sometimes I find that a 'sudo reboot' will take ~5 seconds, and sometimes ~1:30, the reason why the screen freezes is that we've shutdown X so there is nothing to update the screen as we don't have text console support built into our kernel (due to bugs that I suspect someone will fix one day).
