Now that many of us have our Gemini and running Debian, perhaps it is good time to start a thread with programs you installed besides those that come with the image file.
Have installed:
- audacity
- calendar (http://gemian.thinkglobally.org/#Calendar) (looks nice; can enter start time of 1:00 through 9:00 AM, but can't enter start time of 10:00 AM...)
- CherryTree (in start menu, but doesn't open...)
- contacts (http://gemian.thinkglobally.org/#Contacts)
- clementine (although kept getting tiny notification message that playlist completed...so, quit program...)
- data (http://gemian.thinkglobally.org/#Data)
- evince
- Geany
- KeepNote
- mc (Midnight Commander)
- taskwarrior (great CLI program)
- vlc (in start menu, but doesn't open...)

- Firefox from ubuntu 14.04 .deb (requires glamor disabled to run smoothly)
- Thunderbird
- Dropbox (via exagear)
- Teamviewer (via exagear)
- Steam (via exagear)
- MS Office 2007 (via wine + exagear)
- HeidiSQL (via wine + exagear)
- Asbru Connection Manager (nice tabbed SSH/RDP/VNC GUI)
- VLC (set output to GLES2 and it runs perfect)
- feh in place of pcmanfm for lightweight wallpaper
- NetworkManager in place of connman because VPN and bluetooth work better and I don't have a 4g gemini
- mtrack for nicer touch input (see my other thread)
- xscreensaver in place of gemian-lock
- lightdm in place of sddm because sddm doesn't work without glamor

The Debian image file has Firefox included. Why did you install it from ubuntu?
Never used exagear. Which version of exagear do you use?
Is it the ARM8 version on this page:

Yes I like ( Installed dictionaries also ) , but in gemini Abiword and gnumeric are much faster to type. Libreoffice writer is very slow. Even changing settings that made it a bit faster.

It's the easiest way to get Firefox 60 without installing a bunch of backported dependencies
And yeah the generic armv8 version of exagear
I don't know why VLC isn't opening at all for you, it at least opened and played briefly before changing the setting for me

This is the same glamor issue as firefox and other apps, without it runs much faster

Decided to try exagear and wine....
Ended up with various error messages during wine install about several items that exist in both systems; dbus, binfmt, invoke-rc.d, and update-rc.d.
In addition, now when I try to type characters that are on the front edge of keyboard keys along with using the Fn key, it does not work anymore.
So, something got borked along the way.
I'm thinking it would be good to uninstall wine and maybe exagear and start with new install of each, after I get keyboard mapping fixed.
Any suggestion as to getting keyboard mapping fixed?
Once I do that, should I do 'apt-get remove wine' to uninstall it?

Wild guessing: change /etc/default/keyboard. This is mine:

XKBLAYOUT="us"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS=""
BACKSPACE="guess"

The easy way is to logout back to the sddm login screen, and re-pick the desired keyboard layout from the dropdown, and login again.
If that doesn't work then you've probably got a custom keyboard set elsewhere in the config (eg in lxqt), remove that first then try again.
You can still use the other tool to set the keyboard, then you need to pick the 'Planet Computers Gemini'(planetgemini) as the keyboard model, though it will fix you to that keyboard all the time. The advantage of the intended udev rules (https://github.com/gemian/lxc-android/blob/master/etc/udev/rules.d/80-keyboard.rules) way of doing it is so that a USB/BT keyboard plugged in shouldn't pickup the custom gemini layout.

I tried what you suggest, picked English US keyboard from dropdown and logged in. However, no change, keyboard mapping still not correct.
Looked in lxqt settings, but the Planet Computers Gemini is no longer listed...so, something really got messed up somehow...
Given this situation as well as the new tool to multi-boot, I'm thinking it might be good to re-flash to get fresh Debian install as well as be able try Sailfish, which I've never used before. Also, can set Debian as my default boot OS, which would be good.....

Try this : remove .config/lxqt/globalkeyshortcuts.conf. logout and login.

I installed: abiword, gnumeric, feh, rhythmbox, and then all the tools required to install and compile Emacs (gcc, git, autoconf, ..., long list).
My main use case is Emacs with org mode and my system boots directly into Debian by default.

I was looking at exagear to run in Android, but pulled back when I read that it doesn't have touch screen capability, that you have to use a mouse. Could you confirm this?

Would be fantastic if someone could get IQNotes (source in Github) compiled/working in Debian. I used it the past 15 years on my various Zauri, it's great as an outliner, to-do, list app, etc., etc.

Given the instructions on the github page, it should be straightforward to compile & install. It requires qmake which is available in Debian.
By the way, Emacs has org mode (http://orgmode.org/) which does all that IQNotes seems to do. You can install Emacs by simply "sudo apt install emacs25" and it should have org mode available.

1. I tried to install Emacs25 per your suggestion, but get 'Reading package list... Done' then 'Building dependency tree...Done' then 'E: Unable to locate package emacs 25' error message. Actually I get a similar 'unable to locate' error message for any/everything I have tried to install thus far!
Per my (admittedly extremely limited) knowledge there should be a sources.list file in /etc/apt/ that "tells" the system the repository source (at least that is what is on my desktop). On my Gemini there is no such file, but there are two files, multistrap-debian.list (pointing at the 'regular' Debian repository) and multistrap-gemian.list (pointing at thinkglobally.org) in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ Is this the way this should be, or is this why I can't install any packages?

I've read that once I download the source and change to its directory I need to do ./configure to check my system for the required software needed to build the program. This gives a 'No such file or directory' error message. If I skip this step and try the instructions provided in the README.DESKTOP I get the following error message: 'qmake: could not exec '/usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/qmake' It may be "straightforward" to someone that knows what they are doing, but (unfortunately) that is not me! Any pointers?

Just to make sure....
Did you first do:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
And then:
sudo apt-get install emacs25
If not, try it...

I would suggest not doing a dist-upgrade as 1) it shouldn't be necessary and 2) may actually cause problems depending on what it tries to upgrade, e.g. the kernel.

Doing dist-upgrade is certainly optional.

Had to re-flash to get Sailfish to work. So, also reflashed Debian at same time.
Reinstalled ExaGear and Wine now.
Just did 'winecfg'....and now have very, very small windows on screen with very, very small text. Have to use a magnifying glass to read text!
Also, does not appear to be a way to make the windows larger.
Any way to make windows and text larger?
Any other tips for Wine configuration?

Meanwhile, I installed Liberty BASIC Pro (LBP) for fun....
Program appears to install OK and will work. However, a separate registration window opens and asks me to enter my name and registration code. I can enter info and click 'OK'. Then I get another window open and it says that registration worked. However, the LBP editor window says 'unregistered' at the top of window and registration window opens every time I open up LBP.
Very odd.....have asked the LBP developer about it. He didn't really have any suggestion. Think he thinks it is a Wine or ExaGear issue. Can understand that...
So, decided to email ExaGear about it. He responded and asked if I can find out if LBP has any error log that I can send him. Will ask LBP developer about that.....
Will keep trying to move forward....

The instructions on the github site imply that it should be quite straightforward. Have you tried? You probably will need to
sudo apt install qt4-qmake gitthen clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/kybu/iqnotes.gitand then follow the instructions in the iqnotes/iqnotes sub-directory.

Well, that error message you included indicates that you also need to install libqt4-dev-bin. Installing this gets rid of the error message but make then complains about the actual contents of one of the user interface files, saying that the version used to create that interface is too old. It looks like it was written for version 3 of qt. I suggest you contact the author of the package and ask what is needed to build iqnotes with qt4.
