Title: Upgrading to TP2 from TP1 without losing data

Is it possible to upgrade to latest Gemian without losing my data? Without reflasing it all with flash tool?

I’m currently on TP2 dual-boot. What can I do to get latest Debian firmware?

Also whats new in TP2? Is there any changelog? I suspect, GPU acceleration is still non-functional, right?

Bump. Really? No-one upgraded from the first TP release to the second one? Also no-one known whether GPU acceleration is functional in TP2?

I believe there are no improvements in TP2 besides upgraded packages, so apt upgrade should get me to TP2, but I would like to have that confirmed.

Please be specific to which one you're refering so we, Gemini Linux users know what and where should be improve.

I was asking about upgrading from https://github.com/gemian/gemini-keyboard-apps/wiki/DebianTP (https://github.com/gemian/gemini-keyboard-apps/wiki/DebianTP) to current Gemian (DebianTP2 probably?).

As for the GPU acceleration, the Mali GPU is/was not used in DebianTP(1), it is apparent as the desktop environment is not as fast as it should be.

Check the second line of the DebianTP2 page, I believe it answers your question: "This is basically just TP1 + all the updates."

TP2 is just a short cut for new linux users. The reason why most people are doing the firmware upgrade is that they want to re-partition the sizes so that they can fit in the extra boot partition, either for Quad(Tri OS + recovery) boot or so they can test alternative kernels more easily.

Thanks Adam. I read that, but I wanted to by sure I don’t miss anything by just upgrading packages with apt.

GPU acceleration is present in TP1 - apps that use ES 2 work perfectly. The lag you are experiencing is due to a significant bottleneck in the fork of glamor used - you can disable glamor and get a much more responsive DE (e.g. scrolling goes from <1fps to >30fps), but at the expense of all GPU acceleration and the login screen
