Title: Does Planet Computers do repairs? My keyboard is shorted out
Post by: jornada720 on September 01, 2018, 01:59:57 pm
I accidentally dropped my Gemini into a partially filled bathtub and now several of the keys return multiple characters when pressed. The Q key returns 1 as well as Q.

So no one on here has ever had to send a unit in for service?

I did. Drop them a message at hello@planetcom.co.uk explaining the issue.
In my case they responded almost immediately and eventually replaced faulty parts of my Gemini.

I haven't, I did have a similar issue, and sorted it myself (tea on/into the keyboard).. bathed in de-ionized water, then IPA.. then when keyboard was still partially annoying, dismantled it far enough to actually wipe the keyboard connector directly with IPA.. that seems to have worked.. Tho the screen could do with more drying out now.

IPA, India Pale Ale, interesting ´solution´.

Well, it would explain those drunken texts…

(Though I suspect Jess meant isopropyl alcohol — or isopropanol, to give its more systematic name — which is just the thing for cleaning electronics.)
