I have debian on boot 4 (hold both esc + silver)
neither old nor new version of debian boots after I downloaded the new linux image to my gemini.
I want to keep the new linux image for sailfish 3, but I dont get anything happening when trying to boot into debian:
if reuse the old debian image, the blue led just keeps shining, but nothing happens, If I use the "new" debian (Wed Dec 12 10:45:36 2018 a58c0d64312b6626a8bdb2178e1303e7) http://support.planetcom.co.uk/download/Li...uxFirmware.html (http://support.planetcom.co.uk/download/LinuxFirmware/LinuxFirmware.html)
the gemini just turns of, or registers the escape button to go into recovery mode.
did anyone else have similar experiences?

I did install Debian today, I was experimenting because of a different problem that I haven't solved yet. I installed Android->Recovery->Debian->None
I used the Planet instructions and online partition tool and downloaded everything fresh. Debian booted and ran well, it's the first time I've used it and I was impressed apart from the lack of connectivity.

When I still could boot into debian I had both wifi and bluetooth (including bluetooth LE) working (as did vpn), unfortunately I can be of much help here since I cant even boot

Some things that may be of interest:- The partition tool lets you drag a slider allocating space between 'Android' and 'Linux', this gives you a hint that your choosing between two things that can be flashed at the partition level.
- The old partition tool let you pick multiple combinations, eg the quad (Android+Recovery+Debian+Sailfish), which gave you a combined deb+sfos linux.img file with the Debian on the root and the Sailfish in a 'stowaway' hidden folder.
- The new partition tool lets you pick from more OS options (Kali etc), but once you've picked one non-Android option (in your case sfos) the other drop downs shrink. Planet may possibly have done this to avoid having to provide every combination of linux image for all combinations of possible contents.
- See the 'Final call for TP3' thread here, we've not released a new Debian starting point for some time (we use apt to keep up to date avoiding the need for re-flashing).
- The new sailfish apparently uses LVM, which should mean people can get back to multi-os options by shrinking the sfos volumes and adding a new debian/kali one etc. This would be entirely unrelated to the planet releases and not involve partitioning or the flash tool. So far I'm still looking for a guineapig.

I don't mind reflashing my 32GB for a shared Sailfish + Debian partition, but I will avoid flashing over my android installation.
how large of a file size would a "universal" linux.img be, og can I merge them by myself?
I honestly dont mind wasting a handful GBs to get this up and running.
Alternatively, I think it should be possible just to restart from the old shared installation, and update sailfish from 2.1 to 3 from within the OS, but that is just a bit time consuming.
