I prefer to use the Google Calendar app, so I'm getting a little irritated at the duplicate notifications from the Cosmo Agenda app. Is there any way to uninstall the Cosmo Agenda app? And to re-install it again later, in case I change my mind?

root + some app which can remove system applications like Titanium backup pro. Or "/system/app mover" from F-droid repo. The first one will make a backup for you as well, the second one will "convert" any system app to a normal user app which can be uninstalled.
Or just disable the calendar app you do not want to use. There are many options.

Thanks for the advice. "Disable" looks like it will be enough for me.

Google Calendar app is pretty unusable in landscape.

Use CalenGoo from google play, it has all the features one needs, and there are keyboard shortcuts as well.
