It is not crystal clear to me if it is possible to insert two physical SIM cards as well as a micro SD card simultaniously without crafting a custom hybrid microsd/nanosim card with glue and sand paper.
cheers

Did you review the 'Story' page on Indiegogo for all the specs?

yes, I read it and I am still not sure if it is possible to put in two physical sim cards in the phone while at the same time also having a microSD card.
From the text and tables, it could be either, but from the video, the sim tray looks like one of those hybrid ones.
did I completely miss it?

After looking at the video it looks like you have to chose between the second sim card or microSD memory card.

you might be right.
I wonder if they will allow extra sim card and sd card simultaneously through software ... I managed to craft together a solution to squeeze 2 simcards and a microSD in my Samsung Galaxy dual sim, and it all worked fine until a software update where Samsung/Google decided that I had put something where it shouldn't go and refused to boot into android.

I think there will continue to be the option of an eSIM.
Personally I would find the option of a second SD card more useful than a second SIM. Having room for 3 cards, 1 SIM, 1 SD, and the third either SIM or SD, would be fantastic.

I think they have said, maybe in the comments, that they actually wanted the option to have two sim-cards AND an SD-card at the same time in the Cosmo as well, but that they had a "misunderstanding" with the manufacturer, and got the "hybrid-version" instead. They also said they would want the Astro to have the opportunity to use 2 SIM's and an SD-card at the same time, and would try to be clearer with the manufacturer when communicating this this time...
So hopefully the final version of Astro will be able to handle 3 cards at the same time :)

Personally I'd find the option of a second SD card quite useful. I think it would be great to have a tray with a SIM slot, a SD slot, and a third slot that can take either SIM or SD card.
I expect the option of an ESIM will be available regardless.

Since devices have actually been shipped now, I'd just like to update this thread to contain this info once: The Astro Slide has a drawer that takes one microSD card and two Nano SIM cards. So it has three slots. Each takes only one type of card: SIM, SIM, SD
-
Although it has slots for two sim cards and the SD card, if I put all three in, then the SD Card has an issue being recognised. If i take out the second sim card all is ok. So i'm not sure if its an issue with my phone or the Astro generically.

Two SIM cards and a MicroSD card do work for me. However, SIM 2 is 2G only (by design) if there are two SIM cards.

Yeah, should anyone want to see what the tray looks like, go here

and scroll down a bit.

Yes just to properly answer this, I have an O2 SIM, an EE SIM and a 256GB SD card , so a full drawer and all 3 are working just fine . With 2 Sims you will be asked priorities for voice, SMS and Data but I get voice and SMS on both SIM numbers.
