Title: Various Questions
Post by: duffman on April 26, 2004, 03:10:58 am
Alrighty, got a few questions about the 6000. Firstly does anyone have smbmount or xsmbbrowser working on thier 6000s? If not does anyone have another network drive mounting util?

Secondly, does anyoone have cups working? Or an alternative network printing util.

Lastly, apt. Anyone have it working?

Thanks in advance, so far this forum has been an immense help, thanks

I have smbmount working on my 6000.  I think I had to install libncurses to get it to work though.  It can mount my server\'s file share no problem.

Where did you get a working version of libncurses? I figured I needed that but the versions i found wouldn\'t install.

I can\'t remember for sure, I\'m pretty sure that this is the one that I have installed: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=868 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=868).

Ya, I looked there, and tried that download, the wierd thing is thi link is for a .ipk file, it downloads as a .tar file. I tried unpacking it as a tar and get Bad header errors. So I was thinking the suffix was wrong, so I change it to .ipk and then the package installer errors.

Are you using MS Internet Explorer? It likes to stick .tar on the end. Normally you just remove the .tar and make sure it ends with .ipk instead.

In the case of the ipk at http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=868 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=868) however one of the inner files is corrupt which is probably why you are getting errors.

Try this one instead: http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/sukoshi/c700_s...harprom_arm.ipk (http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/sukoshi/c700_softs/libncurses5_5.0-6.0potato1-sharprom_arm.ipk)

Oh geeze no hehe I\'m about as anti-microsoft as they come. I was getting that on the Opera browser on the Zaurus and my desktop running Opera. At any rate, your link worked, thanks much!
