My wifi card works fine using Cacko Qtopia ROM on an 860, and has always worked OK on a 5500, but I dont get any joy with the pdaxrom. No matter what IP config I use I just get a flashing light on the card, and can ping nothing.
On the xrom it says it is a farallon card, but other roms claim it is an Intersil PRISM2 Reference Design. It was actually packaged as an Origo card.
Can I get it to work on the xrom?
TIA

Have you installed the \'pcmcia-fix\' package from the pdaxrom feed? I need to do this for my card to work.
-
I did and rebooted, but there didnt seem to be any change in the cards behavior. Like I say, the card is visible (as a Farallon) but it doesnt see my network despite having the same settings as on previous installations. I am now using the Qtopia ROM from Cacko just coz Ive got to get on, but I would like to get the X11 ROM working but the wifi is a problem...

http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk (http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk) have my card listed as a Origo/Senao Compact Flash WiFi Card [SPG-GEN004-R]. Has anyone got this to work with the pdaX rom? If so did it require tinkering (enlighten please)!?
Is it the case that various wifi cards require coaxing to work under pdaX rom?

I\'ve got a similar problem. My Linksys WCF12 just does the same flashing thing. I posted some of my info on this thread http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...iewtopic&t=3827 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3827)
Unfortunately, I need to use my Z so I\'ve put tkc back until I can play with it again.

Hi b2bpro. Yes I saw your post, and there are a few others, and they seem to fizzle out for various reasons in an unresolved state. It would be so much better if the pdaX rom wifi support and configuration was as easy as in Qtopia roms (and the Cacko Qtopia rom is very good). I\'ll keep watching the forum until then because like you I am using my Z for work and can\'t afford to endlessly tweak and tinker config files. So it is the Cacko Qtopia rom for now.

I also have a orinoco wifi card from shirtpocket, and have also experienced the LAN config utilities inability to configure it correctly. I would have assumed that the config utility would use the standard, non-card specific iwconfig options to configure it but on inspection of eth0 in iwconfig, no settings are set. Setting them manually and bringing the interface up works fine.
# iwconfig essid microwayes mode managed enc XXXX-XXXX-XX open
then
# ifconfig eth0 up
and finally
# dhcpcd eth0
worked for me. Although config is lost after suspend. It was extremely easy and reliable in Qtopia, and thats the way it should be. Also, the wireless applet appears and disappears of its own accord.

# iwconfig essid microwayes mode managed enc XXXX-XXXX-XX open
Being a newbie, I\'m wondering - is \"microwayes\" your essid? and what should I put in place of the XXXX-XXXX-XX ? Is that the WEP code for encryption?
-
Yep, microwayes is my essid, and if you are using WEP then fill it in with the appropriate key, if not the leave the enc option out. Have at look at the iwconfig man page if your interested, or just carry on with the old rom cos you shouldn\'t have to do all this, its a pain. Of course you could automate it but you might as well wait for it to be fixed. I filed a bug report on the pdaxrom website.

The package pcmcia-fix isn\'t more in the pdaxrom feed !!!!
somebody can send me here : ronbaguersei(a)hotmail.com
thanks.

The pcmcia-fix is included in the latest 1.0.5 rom so its not needed

Thank you for this information.
