I just bought a zaurus sl c860 after returing a 5600 (good unit but my thumbs are to big to type on it) to replace my ipaq 3650. I find that sharp
failed incompataiblity big time as the ipaq ac adapter (110 -240) vac in 5vdc
out at 2amp center positive has same size connector as the 100 vac in 5vdc 1 amp out that came with my sl c860.
I left it plupped in over night and the sl c860 is charged and did not explode.
How did this happen? Does sharp not know that old stuff can never work with new stuff?

5V is 5V is 5V. The adapters are compatible. The amp rating refers to the peak amount of power you can get from the adapter. The actual amount of power flowing throught the adapter is determined solely by Ohm\'s law.
In short, it never hurts to have an adapter that can supply more amps then you need. If you had an adapter that supplied less that you needed, it would still be fine, but then you might have trouble running the Zaurus with a power hungry CF card, the backlight at full, and still recharge the battery.
