seeing a rapidly growing community here (from 2400 when I joined 2 months ago to now 3067) and as a user and contributor to www.killefiz.de I am very happy that it exists - but I would like to propose some improvements:
1. integrate into ZUG (at least some more links forth and back)
2. have the option to edit screenshots
3. add improved sorting facilities
4. have the option to write user comments and ratings to the entries (similar to VersionTracker or e.g. macrumours) - or what about automatically creating/linking a forum here on ZUG?
ZSI2 appears to have been an attempt to improve but it got stuck in the middle (e.g. it is missing a scrollbar for the alphabetical view and there is no method to edit entries).
What is your opinion?
BTW just curious: who is the team we have to applaude to that is running Killefiz? I could not find the \"About\" box...

Great ideas! User comments as well as hints for installation and screenshots for different display sizes...

IMHO bad idea for full integration, at least at the moment if we lose one site the other is still up, links are a good idea.

Definitely.
3. add improved sorting facilities
I like the categories and search - what could be added?

Why not update killefiz to use/do WIKI entries instead? There would be less Windows .exe spam in the statistics page

Dunno but its not me

Just thought I\'d point out that there is also http://www.zaurusoft.com (http://www.zaurusoft.com) . The ZSI is nice in that it has the most links to all Zaurus applications, but Zaurusoft hosts all the packages themselves so that you don\'t get constant broken links. Some things are a bit out of date though.

That would be Sven \"killefiz\" Lankes, killefiz on #opie.de and #oe.

I\'ve actually emailed Sven recently about starting a project that would possibly create a freshmeat style zaurus software repository. I definitely have plans for this new site to replace the ZUG Downloads area (too much redundancy). Sven has indicated that he would be interested in the project, and since my web development skills are somewhat limited, I\'ve quietly recruited a real developer - dz, who has also expressed an interest in the project.
This probably won\'t begin for a month or two, so right now I\'m just trying to gather some information as to what we could develop. There are still a ton of details to work out, so please don\'t ask specifics like \"when will it be up and running\", or stuff like that. However, if you have any suggestions that we should consider, please feel free to post away.
I plan on documenting our efforts, and presenting it to the ZUG community for feedback, and hopefully incorporating as much of the feedback as we can. (I\'m a project manager, it\'s kind of what I do )
Any initial thoughts? Concerns? Feedback?

5. Having a subscription list for products and receiving an e-mail note on updates

I\'d like to see a more flexible categories/subcategories and versioning support, so that we could have a shared description for a category and only small specifics for each of the downloads. A good example is series of ROM versions...

Great!
Just an additional idea as you mentioned freshmeat: why not develop the repository management software itself as an open source project and host at SourceForge? Other platform/project communities might be interested in tracking their developer community work as well.
Ideas for names (assuming it is done in PHP):
* phpTracker - is already in use for other software...
* phpVersionTracker - well, VersionTracker.com might not like
* phpSoftTracker
* phpVersionist
* phpSWtracker
...
Any skilled web programmers with interest out there? (Well, I consider myself also more a project/program manager...)
