I\'m looking for a 640x480 (Zaurus SL-C860 or SL-C7x0) filemanager to move multiple files at once. I\'ve seen a few file managers on various lists, but I wanted to ask which ones you would recommend.
I have basically 4 minimum requirements:
* 640x480 support
* Can move multiple files at once
* GUI based (sorry, no terminal)
* Free? (Most are, but I thought I should mention)
Does any file manager come to mind?
(I\'m tired of doing cut-and-paste for individual files, while moving back and forth between directories... and when I try to cut multiple files (one after the other) all of them get lost in limbo except for the last \"cut\"... so that doesn\'t work)
Thanks in advance! (You guys have been great in helping me out and I hope to be able to use that information to help out others that may come along )

Oh... and it would be great if I was able to actually see outisde of the /home/zaurus/Documents/ directory shell limits and explore and better understand Linux.

ROX-Filer. But you will need pdaXrom (http://www.pdaxrom.org).
See attached screenshot.

This attitude will also be a point for pdaxrom, since it is overall a more complete Linux-system (which means you can do many things you can\'t do with the Sharp-ROM, but also means you must do certain things you don\'t have to deal with when using the standard ROM).

I don\'t use a file manger I do all my file moveing editing and so forth form the shell.

Wow! pdaXrom looks cool.
I haven\'t even thought about switching ROMs. I don\'t know the pro\'s and con\'s for each. Hm... that\'s a good new forum topic.
Do you know one for the QTopia ROM that does this stuff?

What about KCommander3 ?
But you will need a 9 MB Qt3 lib ( you can put this lib on SD ).
It runs well on my 760 CR 1.21.
(Sreenshot on www.pi-sync.net/daunlood/kcommander3onZaurus760.png ).
Thread about this:

With KCommander you can move files/dirs and create automatically symlinks from the old location to the new one.
I have added this feature do easily move file.
With the build in QDU (Q Disk Usage ) you get a very detailed overview about your files.
And the Notes App tuxcards is also very useful on 640x480 display.

I'm using mc with the cacko 1.21b. Do you know how can I select multiple files?

I've been using unix since ... about '88 or so.
I've only moved multiple files via a GUI in windows and mac.
now: when you drag and drop -- are you going to get a copy? a move? a link?
you just don't know! guis are wonderful.
At the command line.... "mv file1 file2 file2 destdir" ... you get a move. every time. No dropping
the files on your desktop by accident, no losing them in a dir that you didn't see (ever drop a mail message onto "outlook today" -- now try to find it!! it's gone!) "cp file1 file2 file3 destdir" you get a copy, every time!
learn this once... it doesn't change. No need to remember to hold down control, alt, shift, apple ... to get special behaviour. Does dropping a floppy onto the trash erase it? no, it ejects it!
how do you list all files, via a gui, that don't contain a certain set of letters?! ever tried to use more than 1 glob in a dos command?! (not split bt the .) -- it doesn't work!
unix is not difficult. it's just not restricted to a kiddie interface. The actions that I learned in '88 are still
100% valid today. Yes, there is progress and I can get a kiddie interface -- if I so desire, but the shell
is still there.
what?! you're restricted to some dir in some gui -- more reason to NOT USE THAT GUI!
cd /
you're at root. done. that's it.
the power in and of unix is that the control is in your hands -- what you can do and where you can go is not dictated by someone else. Your computer is yours -- you have the freedom to learn how to use it -- you are not forced to relinquish control of your device to anyone else -- unless you so desire.

I use advancedfm. I need to update the sharp rom version one, though.

Bah, use mc. solves all your troubles, and is the same on every platform out there.
