Title: Unable to play MP3s
Post by: savithk on April 30, 2004, 12:00:53 am
Hello All,

I am unable to play MP3s on my Z-5600.  When I play MP3s it gives me junk sound, as if the song is been played in fast forward mode.  I\'ve tried playing all kind of MP3s i.e. 56k, 128k and 160k.

I haven\'t installed any players on my own.  Trying with the default player that comes with Z-5600.  I\'ve heard from couple of friends that they can play MP3s on their Z-5600 through default player.

Do I have to configure anything to make this work properly or re-install a new player?  Please help!

Regards,
Savithk

Try recoding your MP3s, possibly with a different encoder and try settings other than just bitrates, such as VBR or not and different stereo settings. The Zaurus doesn\'t seem to be able to cope with all variations. I\'ve never had any trouble with any \'lame\' encoded mp3s.

There is a conf file (whose name I will attempt to drag out) which has an option to uncomment to remedy this. I think it is something like xine.conf or conf.xine in root settings.  I don\'t have my Z to hand at the mo so I cannot check.

Would you dig this up so I can see if this is my problem?  Thanks.

I\'ve a feeling that this fix is for opie-mediaplayer2 - see my post (or rather the link to the mailing list in it) in the OpenZaurus section: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...iewtopic&t=3149 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3149)

Hello All,

Thanks for your postings! I\'ve not installed any media player on my own.  I have default media player that comes with z (SL5600).  I checked MediaPlayer.conf, is there any setting that I need to set?  Or is there any other .conf file that I should look into and configure?

Thanks a lot to all in advance!
