I am quite new to the Zaurus - I have a 5500.
I would like to install Mozilla - am I being foolish?
I found a set of ipkgs here: http://ipkgfind.handhelds.org/ (http://ipkgfind.handhelds.org/) which include several components needed to run Mozilla. I downloaded some of them but ran into a few anomalies:
1. Some of the packages did not show up in Add/Remove software even though the file names ended in arm.ipkg.
2. I tried installing the package for libc6 from a command prompt:ipkg install libc6.....arm.pkg
but it said that I needed to install an update to dpkg first.
3. Some other packages that I tried to install from a command prompt gave the error:not in gzip format unexpected end of file
Can anyone offer any advice on any of these items.
Thanks.
Tony

Many of the packages on handhelds.org is for the iPAQ, which uses OPIE that in turn uses a slightly different package format, which is not compatible with the Sharp ROMs. This is why some packages do not show.
I wouldn\'t bother trying to install Mozilla though. I would be surprised if it ran at all on a PDA. It is so bloated that the normal PC requirements are quite high, so a PDA with limited RAM and a slow CPU has no chance.
If you want a decent browser, upgrade to the Sharp 3.x ROM that has Opera 6. Opera 6 beats any other browser on a PDA hands down.

Thanks for the info. What I am looking for is an IMAP client, ideally with off-line capability, hence my interest in Mozilla, not so much for the browser and the mail client. Any ideas?
Having discovered that flashing the ROM is not so hard, I have now flashed to Open Zaurus just to see what is on offer, so I should be able to try some of the OPIE packages.
I can afford just to spend some time playing around with it as I still use my Revo Plus for what I need to do.
The bigger picture is that I am doing some things with Linux mail servers to try to put together an Open Source alternative to M$ Exchange Server. On the PC desktops I am using various clients which include SquirrelMail (because it\'s customisable), Mozilla Mail (because if can work off-line) and Outlook (because some people insist on it).
The missing piece at the moment is to be able to sync the PDA with the Linux mail (SquirrelMail) system. A good IMAP client would be a start and then if might just be a case of getting the PDA Calendar to play nicely with SquirrelMail Calendars.

Doesn\'t the Sharp Email app do what you want?
Anyway, I think OPIE Mail 2 supports IMAP

Thanks. I am looking at OPIE Mail 2 right now. I\'m sorry, I\'m still finding my way around.
