Title: Battery extender for 5600 Questions?
Post by: cmisip on May 02, 2004, 09:23:25 am
I just bought one of these things and as far as I can tell it is simply two AA batteries in series and then each of these two wired in parallel with a net voltage of 3 volts.  When I plug this into the Z, the charge button does not light up.  Looking at the zaurus adaptor, it says output is 5V.  Is the battery extender supposed to work even with 3 V.  Or is this just really suited for the 5500?  What is the volt output of the 5500 adapter?  Thanks

All of the Z adapters I have seen both from Sharp and 3rd party provide 5V.  I have both c860 and 5500, both are 5V.

I dont know if this will help (and i seem to be getting flamed whenever i offer help recently), but when i used a batter extender on my zaurus, i had to use rechargable AA batteries (4 x 1.2V = 4.8V) to charge the zaurus from the extender which works fine, whereas when i used regular AA batteries (4 x 1.5V = 6V) it wouldn\'t charge/work with the zaurus.

Maybe try rechargeable batteries?

Wish I had a voltmeter to try the output of this.  As it is though, the charging light does not light when the extender is connected.  It runs out of juice just as fast.
