Title: HELP!
Post by: rikiya on May 02, 2004, 07:44:45 pm
Hi.

I just flashed my SL-C860 to the cacko ROM and didn\'t like it too much.
I tried to reflash my SL_C860 with my back up but it\'s not working! Can anyone tell me where to get the original Sharp ROM For the Sl_C860?

check out this NAND Flash Restore (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=NAND%20Flash%20Restore) how to doc.  In there you will also find a link to some original NAND backup files courtesy of conics.net.

then you\'re doing something wrong... I\'ve used those instructions several times, and I\'ve gotten it to work every time.  by the way - don\'t screw around in those menus... it\'s an easy way to really mess up your Z - just ask foxdie

Hi rikiya

What did you not like of the new Cacko ROM? When I get my C860, this is the ROM I want to install. Would just like to know what problems you experienced.

Thanks!

Try yhis set of instructions.

rikiya - you\'re killing me with your vague posts

Try the NAND restore again and try to document the exact error message you are getting.  Then post the error back here with the exact steps you are doing in the nand restore.

Help us, help you...

Rikya,

Do you have a file called SYSTC860.DBK on your SD or CF card? If you have it on your SD card, try taking the CF card out when you try to restore the NAND - otherwise it sometimes gives up after looking at the CF card.

If you don\'t have the SYSTC860.DBK file, but some other file for exapmle 2004-04-21-C860.backup then you are using the wrong file. If you dont have a DBK file then download one from http://downloads.conics.net/pda/zaurus-sl-...iginal-backups/ (http://downloads.conics.net/pda/zaurus-sl-c700/service-menus/original-backups/) (Make sure you get the 860 one)

As offroadgeek says - you need to give us more info, it\'s better to tell us too much than just replying with \"It dont work\". If we get error messages and exact steps yuo have taken then we can help you

Stu

Stubear

I just wanted to know if the file from your link is the right one? The SL-C860 one says .rar on the end. Is there any other one I should pick?

rikiya

You will have to extract the DBK file from the RAR with Winzip or Winrar then rename the file (if it\'s not already) to SYSTC860.DBK and follow the instructions very carefully that are on the link that offroadgeek posted in this thread. I will put that link here for you:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...Flash%20Restore (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=NAND%20Flash%20Restore)

Good luck

Greg

You have 2 options,

1) click the cancel button to go to back to the menu, go to the extra menu and select restart, the screen will flash white then go black, turn your Z on with the power button (not the keypad one)

2) pull the battery out and hard reset
