Hi. I am getting quote frustrated! Sharp\'s Zaurus resources are
1) out of date -- no mention of the SL6000 on myzaurus.com, for example
2) broken -- links to the \"developer\" section come up with \"cannot be displayed\"
3) incomplete -- maybe this stems from points (1) and (2).
Take for example the following how-to, dated October, 2003:
http://linuxdevices.com/articles/AT6830035793.html (http://linuxdevices.com/articles/AT6830035793.html)
The links to \"resources\" -- basically the cross-compilation environment -- are all broken!
I am having similar problems with other Zaurus information. For example, the files at http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/ (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/) are mostly old, old, old! Not that that is necesarily a problem, because a lot seem to work on the SL6000. But VGA mode is a problem for many of the older apps.
Anyways, here is what I want to do:
1) be able to compile/create packages from source.
2) Get SMB working so I can mount my server shares on my Z. (not the Z on my desktop.) I can\'t seem to find information on that.
That\'s about it. If anyone can help, thanks!!! I am very DIY, so \"help\" in the form of links to instructions, how-tos, or other resources is great.

Sharp took zaurus.com down where a lot of information and software was hosted. There were a lot of howtos at docs.zaurus.com, but these have been copied into the ZUG Howtos, including the cross compiling howto along with the RPM downloads.
A lot of the software on the killefiz.de site was hosted on community.zaurus.com which obviously went down. Some of that has been moved to the ZUG Downloads, but all the community.zaurus.com pages have been mirrored here and I thought all the downloads had been mirrored too, but I can\'t find them anymore.
As for older app not running in VGA mode on your 6000, you can hold down your stylus on an app\'s icon and make it run in \'magnified\' mode so it switches to 240x320. Most should run ok though.

Add this to any apps .desktop file:
Display=640x480/144dpi,480x640/144dpi
from the terminal app:
echo \'Display=640x480/144dpi,480x640/144dpi\' >> someapps.desktop
You will need to either restart qtopia, or reboot.
you can run
qcop \'QPE/System\' \'restart()\'
to restart Qtopia, as the shutdown application has been removed on the sl-6000.
And about your other concerns.. Trolltech will have a Qtopia Community web site soon... where information such as this, although not necessarily Zaurus specific, can be read.
