Title: Help: static IP working but not dhcp on 5500
Post by: newgun on May 07, 2004, 01:48:55 am
SL-5500, SMC2642W CF wireless card, 128bit WEP, Sharp2.38ROM. It works fine if I configure the network manually with IP address/gateway/DNS(192.168.2.xxx), but won\'t give eth0 an ip address if I choose \"Obtain TCP/IP Information Automatically\" under Network & Sync.  What am I missing?

What are you trying to connect to?

Are you running a dhcp server somewhere?

I\'m trying to connect it to my home 802.11g wireless n/w which has a router (which runs as a dhcp server as well) and is connected to the internet by a cable modem.  All my other machines work fine (all use dhcp), and the Z works fine if I manually set the network properties (like ip address, dns server ip address, gateway ip address, etc) but doesn\'t seem to get the properties from the router when using dhcp.

No offense, I was just trying to rule out an easy one ;-)

I\'m not sure then. Have you tried running dhcpd (is that what it\'s called - I\'ve no idea) manually to see whether it\'s a scripting rather than a dhcp problem.

As you might have noticed, I don\'t know. Sorry.
