Title: OZ Newbie questions
Post by: robirrgang on May 07, 2004, 10:47:44 am
I\'ve been poking at the various ROMs, and I found myself surprised that OpenZaurus felt like the best fit for me. No offense, I always thought that the more \'safe\' world of TKC/Sharp ROMs would be the right place to be, but when I flashed my Z with OZ 3.2 I was quite pleased with the results.

Now, I am left with a few questions, like:
...Do I want to be running 3.3.5 or 3.5?
...Can I get Apache/PHP/MySQL to run under OZ (3.2?)?
...should most packages (like pbdoom, which I like just for the hell of it) install under OZ3.2?

I\'ll probably think of more (stupid) questions soon. Help? =)

You most likely want to stick with OZ 3.2. OZ 3.3.x, x]=5 is much faster but a developer release.
LAMP should work on OZ 3.2, although i didn\'t try.
OZ 3.2 should be compatible with most packages out there, since it\'s using gcc 2.95.3

I\'ve set up Apache/PHP/MySQL under OZ and it works just fine.  However, running apache and MySQL makes my 5500 a little slow so I haven\'t gotten much further than the setting it up part.  My kingdom for a C860...

i feel like a total newb... but i got mysql and apache (both from the http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/ (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/) site), installed them (had to force mysql since there was a file that sqlite had already installed that stopped mysql from installing ok) ... and then i\'m stuck.

apachectl (also from killefiz) doesn\'t seem to do much on my Z... mysql\'s start app doesnt seem to start it.

i\'m pretty damn close to getting my Z tweaked the way I like it. this is just slowing me down. my kingdom for a hint.. or a qt-based apache control ;-)
