Title: freeze animated gifs in Opera
Post by: Tyris on May 10, 2004, 09:38:08 pm
I\'ve been spoiled by Mozilla and its ability to stop animated gifs, block images from specific sites and stop popups.

Im working on stopping rogue advertisers via my nameserver (as I\'d like to not fill my /etc/hosts file with 200 listings pointing to 127.0.0.0), but I dont have an answer to animated gifs.

Can opera be set to freeze animated gifs on their first frame, or to only let them cycle once?

OK got it:

Add this to your /home/zaurus/.opera/opera.ini

[Multimedia]
Show Animation=0

That made the web a whole lot easier to tolerate.
Next up: pad the /etc/hosts file with annoying sites.
