Hi
I have Z5600 with Sharp ROM. I wanted to connect my Z (through USB) to Gentoo based desktop (kernel 2.6.6) but my tries are unsuccessful. How should i configure kernel to get it working?

You need to enable the following as iether a module or built in (tick as aposed to a dot)
USB support ] Multi-purpose USB Network Framework. This will give you USBNET
I have gentoo with 2.6.6 and it works fine. There was a problem between kernels 2.6.5 and 2.6.6-rc2 but these are now sorted.

Richard,
can you synchronize using qtopia desktop?
I run the same version of gentoo as you, but qtopiadesktop won\'t recognize my Z6000.
As a matter of fact the only thing I have been able to do from My desktop was to ping the Zaurus.
Could you post how you got your USB networking with the Z to work? I have followed all the tutorials but have not succeeded so far. I have tried static IP, have tried using the Z DHCP server to assign the Z\'s IP but can\'t do anything useful with the link the only thing that works is the ping.
maybe your experience will help me.
Thanks

I don\'t use qtopia desktop so can\'t help there I\'m afraid.
Its just a guess but are you pinging 192.168.129.1 ? (this will respond)
If you want to connect via ssh type in ssh root@192.168.129.201 (note the end is 201)

There is no qtopia desktop that will synch with Shapr Rom Zaurus - at least that is what I\'ve found from searching the Web since August last year. Sharp doesn\'t seem to want to support linux even though that is the os of the Z.
THe only qtopia desktop that works with the Z is the version on the CD that only works with windows

I have OZ-3.2 on my 5500 Zaurus that I am trying to connect to my Gentoo box. I conpiled the 2.6.6 kernel correctly, and ifconfig tells me that usb0 is UP RUNNING, etc, but I cannot ping, it says DESTINATION PORT UNREACHABLE.
Aprectiate any help you can give.

I tried it (compiled in and as a module), but still no luck.
I setup my connection as in howtos:
ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
route add -host 192.168.129.201 usb0
