Title: Registering Tree!Explorer QT+
Post by: SharpEnd on May 16, 2004, 11:48:29 pm
I\'m trying to actually purchase & register Tree!Explorer QT+ for my 860.  It is an awesome file tree and text editor rolled in one, but it needs registration to fully function (i.e. make any changes to files).  Haven\'t seen anything that I like nearly as much, however, I can\'t seem to get the web page to load in order to pay for it.  Their homepage is here:

http://hpcgi2.nifty.com/taku2001/zau/texpl...rerqt_p/top.cgi (http://hpcgi2.nifty.com/taku2001/zau/texplorerqt_p/top.cgi)

The registration is at some site called Vector, but it won\'t load, and of
course the homepage is in Japanese, so it is worse than hieroglyphics to me:

https://sw.vector.co.jp/swreg/step1.reserve...e?srno=SR040167 (https://sw.vector.co.jp/swreg/step1.reserve?srno=SR040167)

The app installed perfectly (and in English!) and I\'d like to use it.
Anyone know how I might register this app or get in touch with the developer?

Thanks

The URL is correct, and my browser is set up correctly, but for some reason I can\'t access the site.  Anyone else able to connect?

I saved the webpage to my Zaurus (no internet connection for it yet) and then performed translation from Japanese, which did remarkably well.  Was able to extract the author\'s email address!   So I\'ll email him, although it does say that he is slow to reply due to the volume of email.

mls64 -- When I tried to use this, I found a lot of the info \"pop-up\" windows were still in Japanese.  Were you able to correct that?

Unfortunately no, but they seem to be warnings related to saving files, deleting files, etc.  I like the rest of the app enough to overlook the few non-english pop-ups.  Have you found anything as intuitive and functional?

If you go into /home/Qtopia/i18n/ja and delete the tree!explorer qm file (sorry can\'t remember the name but it\'s pretty obvious) then you shouldn\'t get any more popups in Japanese.

This goes for all progs that have translation files in /home/Qtopia/i18n/xx

mls64 -

I just kept feeding the text through Babbel Fish till the registration was finished. Was not fun, but it worked. Price is VERY reasonable in US $, BTW.

Bob (or with your new icon I guess it should be Yodux   )

Thanks for the tip.  Now I\'m having  a problem with the app - it crashes and freezes up the Z if I select a file and hold to bring up the pop-up menu.  The weird JP text box comes up stating evaluation, and then the system looks like it is rebooting, with the SD Silicon screen coming up but rotated in portrait and upside down!  Is that weird or what?  I\'m wondering if it is due to the app not being registered, or if I\'m going to have a problem after I pay for it?  I really like the app better than tkcExplorer.

Finaly! I had trouble trying to buy the pprogram via the Japanese site and asked the author to put his program on Handango. I ended up asking my firend in Japan to buy the app for me

Hummm. My C860 is Sharp ROM also, Mike, but never saw the behavior that you describe though I ran the unregistered app for quite a while (was a bit intimidated by the registration). Never saw an \"evaluation\" text box, now that I think about it.

Anybody else out there running the app have problems??

I still get popups with squares and that tells me even though I deleted the file, it didn\'t clear up all the language issues.  Any other ideas?

I assume once you register it you are able to use the open with and the text editor/picture viewer?

Handango currently appears to be offline so I can\'t get a copy.
But I agree a great app and I can\'t find anything better.
