Hello all,
I\'m looking for ways to increase battery life on my c700, this is what I\'m deciding between at the moment:
- 1700mAh EA-BL08K battery / £47.95 (expensive!)
- shirtpockets battery extender mega-bundle / £21.95 (bulky?)
- sharp battery-charger + additional BL06 battery (where to buy?)
I\'m in Europe so shirtpocket seemes to be the best/only source.
Any recommendations / other solutions / better prices?

bl08 is nice solution because you dont have anything else except zaurus. if you want battery extender think about building it by yourself. its soo easy.

I second piotr. I have an old 5500, with 2 batteries and I\'m very happy with that solution. You don\'t have a big bulge and the second battery is easy to pocket.
I also agree about the battery extender. They are VERY easy to build. Many people to it with 4AA\'s and a small diode, I prefer to use 6 batteries and a 5v2a regulater (I have to build the reg myself because all I can get in this area is 5v1a) But that\'s easy too. You just use two 1 amp regs in parallel. I was told once I should put a capaceter in between the regs, but I\'ve never done that.

I believe that you should be using small value resistors on the output of each regulator, if running more than one in parallel, in order to prevent one regulator from sinking the current that the other regulator is generating (assuming the regs. output voltage is slightly different).
Of course, linear regs burn power, switch-mode is far more efficient (and is what\'s used inside the Z).

I too use two sharp batteries with my 5500, and that works just fine. Rarely, if ever, do I find myself in a jam with this situation and the lesser battery for the 5500 (and I believe the c700) is pretty inexpensive on eBay and at other sellers sometimes. That might be a nice middle road option if you can find one for the right price.
Not sure about the shipping to Europe issue, though. Good luck!

Here is the datasheet on the lm7805 (5 volt 1 amp regulator). Skip down to page 23 and check out the circuit for the high current design.
Dead simple.

No association excep a satisfied customer. Has a problem with one unit and replaced no questions asked and no cost. As I recall, I think he even reimbursed me for my shipping the old one to him !
Amazing service...and he has all you need, extra AC, extenders and car adaptors (never start car with Z plugged in!!).
These maybe very easy to build, but they would take me more than an hour, then it is cheaper to buy it. There are other things I would rather spend an hour on....like talking to you wonderful people. :roll:

And... I just modified my CE-BC21 to accept the \'08 battery. Works fine.

About using power regulator like 7805. I was asking some electronic technican and he told me that to use power regulators you have to have more than 1.5V difference between input and output otherwise they wont work. If somebody will try please put here some note about results .

Yup, basically two times your standard diode drop. A 6 cell NiCad pack would work nicely.
Do some research on what size batteries you want to use, the \"D\" cells having the greatest capacity of course.

Can someone tell me if you can use the batteries used in some cameras? Any specific voltage and so on? I would like a smaller battery for my C860. I\'d like to feel the slimness of my little mechanical friend!

I think olympus cameras have batteries similar to bl06. Ive seen them in the shop but didnt try. It looks the same.
Largest \"D\" cell Ive seen had 8Ah (8000mAh) capacity so it is really powerplant for Z.
But one costs almost 25USD and you need 4 of them.

Well, six anyways. 4 x 1.2 = 4.8, a bit below the 5 volt threshold you need (5 volts wouldn\'t be enough either, you need a bit more to overcome the losses in the regulator circuit).
