i put a nokia 8310 battery into 760,
connect \"+\" and \"-\" with 2 little pieces of copper,
760 works fine,
but i don\'t know i can charge the battery with zaurus or not,
i just charge it with phone and put it back,
can anyone know about battery tell me,
can i charge the battery with zaurus ?
seem there are more than just \"+/-\" on zaurus and battery, what are they ?
thx

You\'re playing dangerously, mind you so am I using a non-standard PSU
It should in theory work but if you fry your Z we take no responsibility

Are you nuts?
Lion batteries are famous for exploding, and cell phones doubly so. Exploding as in a bomb. Not the good kind of exploding, the bad kind. Get the picture?
And yes, I\'m the same guy who wouldn\'t blink at making his own charger. But that only supplies the current to the charging circuitry, it doesn\'t charge the battery directly. A huge difference.
Please be very careful if you continue to do this.
Anyways, here is just one article:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14417 (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14417)
The scary part:
How do you get them to blow? Easy, you just short them out internally, and they are fairly likely to generate enough heat to explode. How do you short them? Well, buy a defective battery for one. Another way is to dent them enough to compress the jelly roll so that internal parts that should not touch come in contact with one another. Then, boom! You can also heat them up to above 150C for more than 10 minutes or so, and they and you may also meet a violent demise. Basically, don\'t hit your battery with a hammer, or drop it off a high ledge onto concrete or into an oven.
This means that if you accidentally short the leads the thing might explode.
I think that the third pad on the battery is for the thermal sensor.
Be careful out there.

i know it is crazy,
so i didn\'t charged it,
because i have extra nokia battery, want to make zaurus slimmer,
and don\'t want to spend $ to buy small zaurus battery

Dont do that. Charging circuit in zaurus are very fragile. If you want to try do that outside zaurus with some power regulator attached to it.

Well........ .... ..........
If:
a) you were to charge it with its normal charger. And,
you were to design a case that was absolutely foolproof. And,
c) you were to fuse it at a safe level - say 2 amps (and that would a \"fast\" 2 amp fuse, not one of those slow-blo fuses), you probably would be safe. Maybe.
But that still doesn\'t cover the thermal lead from the battery. What did the Z think of the cell phone battery? Did it run? (not to encourage you, only in the interest of science).
Please be careful. I\'m not worried about your Z (hardly), I\'m more worried about who is going to pay for your reconstructive surgery.

One question, I have a completely empty battery, is it possible to charge it with a Nokia phone? Because it is the same voltage...
-
If the voltage is the same it should work. Don\'t forget to _check the polarity_ so you don\'t fry the battery or the charger. The only thing you may notice is if the charger amperage is low it\'ll take longer to charge, but it\'ll drain slower too. This may happen if you charge a Z with the USB charge/sync cable, since the computer must provide less amperage than the Z charger. It\'ll take longer, and it\'ll last longer too.
People in the R/C world charge their batteries with a very low amperage to get longer runs off of the vehicles.
