Title: how to access zaurususergroup.com using ip address?
Post by: chyang on May 19, 2004, 09:00:40 am
The cache in all my local DNS server all reply as DNS request to zaurususergroup.com as invlida name. I can do nothing but use dig to get the correct ip address, but unfortunately, I still can\'t access it using ip address, it\'s a server with virtual host, don\'t know how to access it. I\'m now using a forced ip address mapping with lynx to write the post.

Add a line to your hosts file.  In Linux, this is called /etc/hosts.  In windows, it\'s c:windowssystem32driversetchosts.

Either way, the line to add is:
Code: [Select]
206.180.232.131 zaurususergroup.com www.zaurususergroup.com
Then you can access the site as normal.

If you just plug the IP address into your browser, you\'ll get badgerracing.com instead, which probably isn\'t what you want.

Feels just like the last days of Zaurus devnet, doesn\'t it?  Fortunately, this one\'s coming back.

At this point just wait a day or so and let DNS update and everything will return to normal.
Until this happens the above is this only way to access the ZUG.
Please be patient this kind of thing does happen, ORG does his best with the site as well he does have a full time job besides keeping the ZUG up.

Thanks,
