Title: Problem with touch screen
Post by: wizzard on May 19, 2004, 10:24:09 am
Hi
I\'ve been having a serious problem with the touch screen. Yesterday I noticed that the upper portion of the touch screen was not responding to the stylus; I couldn\'t open the different tabs. I recalibrated the screen but the problem persisted. I then formatted and reinstalled the ROM (Sharp 1.32) but the problem persisted. Next I removed the G2 screen protector but still no dice. I contacted Amazon and started started the process of returning it (its not even a month old).
Today morning I found that the screen was working again. I don\'t understand this. Can anyone throw some light on this phenomenon?
Its a Zaurus 5600 with pxa250 processor. I had installed the special kernel from ZUG downloads. Freedoom ran perfectly. I first noticed the problem when using a sketching program.
Thanks

Sounds like you installed the wrong version of the Special Kernel. The first version had some problems with the trouchscreen which were like what you describe. Make sure you have downloaded v1.3 of the Special Kernel. (It would be nice if an admin could delete the other Special kernel versions and the Pre-emptive kernels for the 5600)

I did download the v1.3 of the special kernel and folloed the update instructions using the update.sh file from the linux/mac version of the Sharp distro.
Is there a way of finding out whether the correct version was involved? Also is there a way of removing the special kernel after installation?
