Anyone recognize this GPS? I can\'t seem to see a logo anywhere.Anyone have one of these? I\'m thinking of one for my 5500.

Looks like the GlobalSat BC-307. I have one, while a little quirky, it does work. If you search the archives for \"BC-307\" or \"BC307\", you will find more information. hth.

Thanks Robert
I was cruising through the CF/GPS listings this morning and saw some GlobalSats that did look identical. I read up on the quircks at qpegps\'s website
Thanks for the help

Hi There, I\'m a newby, just bought a 5500 and I actually bought one of these GPS too, which has yet to arrive.
What\'s the best software to use with this?

I use qpegps with mine - works good - had to tweak a few things in order to get it to use /dev/ttyS3 port. Other then that all is well.

Something tells me when it arrives I\'m going to need help getting it to work. Would you be interested in writing a step by step guide in return for a small gift?
I\'m really not a Linux bod, though I know what it\'s about. I\'m running a history research project and we have bought three units which we will be wanting GPS on. I\'m hoping that I can port an old 1850\'s map onto it that I\'ve got.

I have setup a mini guide on qpegps, zroadmap and gpsd. I use the Ambicom CF but it should be the same since both qpegps and zroadmap use gpsd. Dont know about importing scanned maps though you can use getmaps.
