Title: Ambicom Bluetooth BT2000C drivers ?
Post by: sigmaX on May 22, 2004, 02:45:46 am
Dear friends,

I am baffled by finding out that there are two models of Ambicom bluetooth cards, and just the new fancy one, with Led and everything, that Amazon and Ambicom site portrays, is NOT supported by our beloved zaurus ?

I have one here ... I tried Affix and Bluez in an SL 5500 ... up to no avail ... then I searched the web for \"zaurus bluetooth BT2000C\" and got the uncool news of the incompatibility ....

anyone any hint ?

Someone one needs to code a Linux driver.  It doesn\'t exist.

Yes for sure .... but this adapter has been out for a while ... I think I am selling mine to the windows / windows CE community ... it is a pity  but ... it sits in my desktop, useless for now. Anyway, maybe these posts encourages someone with skills to make the necessary steps and bring an appropriate driver into life

For the record, that card doesn\'t work with HPCs either!  Seriously, AmbiCom really dropped the ball with that card.  Compatibility SUCKS.  Tumnus has been working on getting that card working for a very long time, and luckily I gave up looong ago as well.  Giving up on that card is about all that I can suggest at this point...

It would be nice if it were supported.  It\'s cheap, and it\'s just about the only one I have seen in local electronic shops recently.

Actually, the Amazon site has two listings for BT 2000.  The first portrays the 2000E, and is actually just a front for MobilePlanet.

I have bought two Ambicom BT2000 cards from Amazon, and both have been the 2000E (the compatible kind), but YMMV.  Amazon is pretty straightforward about taking returns, though, and might even learn to be a little clearer about what they are selling after a couple of returns for \"Hey!  This isn\'t what you depicted, and it doesn\'t work with my PDA!\" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006B9WO/qid=1085248395/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-1089685-4365629?v=glance&s=electronics)
