Hello,
I bought a c860 with pdaXrom installed. I want to flash to the SHARP-based cacko- or tkc ROM, but I believe I need to restore the original partitioning of the readonly fs. Is there any documentation describing:
1) The types of memory within the various zauri
2) How they are partitioned by default
3) How each type/partition is meant to be used
4) How they can be used in practice
This must be a FAQ, but I searching didn\'t turn up the answer, and the FAQ lists are fairly barren.
Thanks,
D

If you flash Cacko QT, the Cacko installer gives you the chance of repartitioning.
For 1.21, you need about 30MB for RO system, that is all you need to know.
You don\'t have to restore the original config to flash Cacko.

I have a problem, maybe someone can help. Hardware is a 860 with a 256mb sd and 128mb cf. I have tried several times to install the latest pdaxrom v1.05 and qtopia rom v1.21. Every time the install fine, but then nothing works after I\'m done installing .. i.e. no window manager (twm comes up, but that\'s all), the root partition always says it is 30MB even if I reflash with a 50 or 80MB root partition size, etc.
I\'m wondering if I need to do a NAND restore to the original and then try the cacko installer again, or what the real issue is. I\'ve had older versions of the pdaxrom and OZ installed in the past and they\'ve always worked great... so I\'m not making any of the newbie errors.
Any ideas?

Cacko is explicit about the partitioning requirement (27MB). That wasn\'t the question. The question is what is the default configuration. Evidently neither you nor I know it. I think that the above info is important to have documented somewhere in English, because Zaurus owners *will* at some point need to know.

I\'ve posted this before on another thread here (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=23531#23531)
860/760 defalut partition size (according to df -h and dmesg)
/dev/root (aka /dev/mtdblock2) 54272K
/dev/mtdblock3 (aka home) 69632K
There is also a /dev/mtdblock1 partition that AFAIK stores the kernel and flashing stuff. Check the link above for more details

Same here. Using Firefox 1.07 on Windows XP
The page opens Zaurus User Group with selection panal on left pane and Trisoft/StreamlineCPUs ad banner at top.
But the area where the content is supposed to be is blank except for:
Failed to load module PNphpBB2

Just noticed the DATE on original post. It's almost 2 years old!
Maybe this is why the link is dead.....

Yeah, I noticed that. The original content linked may be gone but perhaps only an update to the link is needed.

A short search through my posts give this new link (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3528&st=0&p=23531entry23531)
Seem the previous link is for the old zaurususergroup boards
