Title: Shorting out the memory on 5500
Post by: dolphin_oracle on May 26, 2004, 09:21:26 pm
had something strange happen today.  I\'ve had my 5500 for about 4 months now.  Today I messed up my usual pocket routine in the morning and stuck my Z in my pocket with loose change.  Later in the day, I noticed that all of the installed programs (Qpdf, hancom office stuff, email settings) were gone.  Anything not in the Sharp ROM (3.1)  vanished following an unexpected reboot.  I restored from a backup and all was well untill later in the day.  I took it out of my pocket again at home and found a dime stuck in ther serial interface at the bottom.  The memory was blank once again.  Can i assume the dime is somehow responsible or is somethng more sinister possibly afoot?

Thanks.

Id think its safe to assume it was the dime.

It hasn\'t happened again, so I must agree.
