First off, thanks to everyone who roams these forums. I\'ve been a silent reader for quite a while and have found many a solution to many a problem by reading the wonderful responses provided by ZUG members.
Really, you have no idea. Thanks!
Second, forgive the newbie question, but I can\'t seem to find any confirmation in existing threads.
I\'ve been thinking about buying a Sandisk 2GB CF card for use in the C860. Has anyone had any experiences with 1GB+ CF cards in their Zaurii? If so, under which ROMs? :?:
-
Well, my CF card is 1GB, not 1GB+ but I\'m sure you will be just fine. The 1GB SanDisk card works perfectly. I think there are people using the 4GB MicroDrives on their Zees without any problems as well.
What I would like to find is a good price on a 1GB SD card as well.

David, thanks for the quick reply!
I was thinking of grabbing the 4GB card out of a Muvo for use in the C860 as well. If anyone can confirm their own personal success stories I\'d love to hear them. (So far, I\'ve only found one vague confirmation in a thread from the beginning of this month.)
As for 1GB SD cards, I know Staples (in the U.S) has the SanDisk 1GB card for around $350. ($150 less than the suggested retail price.) An online store called CanogaCamera.com says they have them in stock for $290. Still too pricey for me.
I think I\'ll be sticking with CF for a while.
David, have you had any experience watching avi files off of your CF on the C860? If so, how well does the Zaurus pull them off? (And, of course, how much battery time does it eat?)

I\'ve pulled the 4GB microdrive from a Muvo2 player and tried fdisk\'ing (find the fdisk utility on the Zaurus Software Index) and formatting it (ext2 format) with luck. I put it back in the player because that seemed like the best place to keep it until I get the camera I intend to use it with.
I should be getting the camera this week and will be pulling the microdrive out again. Then I´ll try actually using it in the Zaurus and let you know about my experiences.

I use the 4GB microdrive from a Muvo2 and it works fine. I followed the instruction exactly that is outlined here in the forum. I havent\'t formated it with ext2, cuz now I don\'t need too. search this forum for the instructions cuz you have to remove the 4 partitions to make it work correctly.

BB, Lareya, thanks to the both of you for your replies.
I\'ll try giving the old Search button a whirl to find the instructions, although I remember many posters had problems even after creating a single partition and formatting the CF to FAT32. I\'m wondering if the Hitachi/Muvo card is a sure thing or a 50/50 proposition.

Sorry about the long response time.
I experienced no problems using the microdrive with my Zaurus SL-C860. I tried both ext2 and FAT32 formatting.

Using the 4Gb muvo\'s microdrive and it\'s working like a charm
btw problems were encountered by people having the \"new\" (hardwired) version of the muvo (do a search on google there are some pics of the old ans new muvo\'s box)
seem I\'ve been lucky as in france stores still have only the \"old\" muvo

I\'ve not yet used my Zaurus for movies. I do have several that I encoded using DivX that I used to play on my Pocket PC. These worked fine from my CF card so I\'m sure movies would also work well on the Z.

I've got 4 of the 4Gb drives (all from disemboweled Muvos) that I use all the time. I store 8-10 full-length movies on each (sometimes more) and I've experienced no problems at all. There is a great link on the forums that describes (in newbee detail !) how to make them work properly, and I haven't had a single problem since I found this post. I can't recommend them highly enough.
