I switched on my C860 (less than three months old) today and just got a white screen with random (but static) lines going horizontally across the screen. D\'Oh. I\'ve checked and the rest of it is working (ssh\'d in and started a VNC viewer and everything was fine ... except the screen was still not working). I then rebooted (a couple of times :-) and eventually brought up the service menu. This is also corrupted (but not you can almost see bits of it).
Any ideas or is my Zaurus goosed and ready to wing its way home (under warantee) to Japan for repairs?

OK, the processor and USB I/O subsystems are working, so that leaves the graphics processor and the display subsystem - did this happen all of a sudden or did you have problems beforehand?
I suspect the display discreet components offhand - but I\'m no expert!

The service menu is distorted but you can at least see what it is supposed to be. Do I\'m thinking some hardware thing so I\'ve sent it back to the people I got it off ... and then on to Japan :-(

maybe we should do a reliability survey.. could be interesting!

Well in defense of the C7xx machines I couldn\'t find any information about this on the internet in general so my guess is an isolated incident, but I\'ll post a poll and see ...

Based on experiances so far, I\'m guestimating at 10-15% failure rate over 1st year.
That includes people playing with ROMs and going wrong and projecting forward accounting for the fact that most of our sales have not yet reached 1 year yet.
