CACkO Zaurus Qtopia ROM 1.21b 100107072004 (SL-C7x0) \"Elena\"
Tue Jun 7 10:01:00 MSD 2004
NOTE:
This package includes all fixes from previous hotfix 1.21a.
You\'ll need to uninstall previous version of the package before installing this one.
1.21b Release Notes:
- Added new Sharp MediaPlayer skin, French keymap and a few wallpapers (thanks to PsionX)
- Added alternate German keymap named Deutsch (sorry, I lost the name of the person who had sent me the file)
- Added Polish keymap (thanks to enk)
- Updated cyrillic-jcuken keymap
- Added \"Fast switch between two recently used keymaps\" option to Keyboard Settings application.
When this option is selected, Fn + Shift and single click on keymap indicator on the taskbar
will switch between the two recently used keymaps instead of cycling through all selected keymaps.
This may be usefull for users who has several keymaps enabled but frequently uses only two of them.
- Added support for different font for on-screen keyboard.
To use different font, add the following section in corresponding keymap file, ex.:
[font]
Helvetica
- Added Applet Manager applet - instantly enable/disable Taskbar applets
- Added Memory Applet - monitor memory status on Zaurus and manage swapfiles
- Updated Date/Time settings to include US date format
- Updated Calendar to properly display weekday names on Week View (thanks to gizard)
- Added ntpdate to automaticaly synchronize time on Zaurus when network is connected
via network card or dialup PPP connection.
Default NTP server is pool.ntp.org, it can be changed by editing /etc/default/ntp-servers file
- Fixed write permission for USB network/storage hotplug scripts
- Fixed \"Serial device in use\" problem with CF modems (thanks to SergL)
- Fixed Linksys WCF12 configuration entry (thanks to Hertog and lbotez)

Thanks, I fixed the link.

Cool. Thanks.
I have installed it. Not sure if it\'s releated but I was messing about with the applet manager and my display keeps turning it\'s self off. Anyone have any ideas?
-
Hmm, I was messing with the media player screen off function as well - could this be related?
-
I think I fixed it by rebooting. However I remember reading somewhere that some one else Had a problem with the media player - screen off function....
I do like the memory usage applet - Kind of like task manager in windows (ohhh please don\'t shoot me down in flames for saying that!!! )
Thanks for the calendar fix!
-
I am having issues where df -h shows that my / and /usr partitions are 100% full, but the memory applet shows I\'m only using around 25%... as a result, I can\'t edit my addressbook without it complaining about memory. I only have gaim installed on top of 1.21b... anyone else seeing this problem?
-
Every time I use Applet Manager applet my z restarts !!?!?!
Anyone else getting this ??
-
Me too, when I click on an .so applet file from the applet manager to check or uncheck it, my z restarts.

The memory applet has nothing to do with your partitions - it shows your RAM.
-

This is actualy a problem of the applet that you\'re turning on and off. Which applet is it?
-
i tried with libkbdapplet.so, libkopialarmapplet.so and then my Z restart
but it works with libmemoryapplet.so and libfreqchange.so I can check and uncheck it with any restart

i tried with libkbdapplet.so, libkopialarmapplet.so and then my Z restart
Well, don\'t touch those applets then

Sorry to inform you Socket BT Rev G is not working well after patch 1.21b.
I wake it up in this way:
#cardctl resume
#/etc/pcmcia/bluetooth restart
Also on suspend/resume the card disappears.
Please check the last changes.
-
ROM Version is not displayed in System Info !!
Otherwise.. great work! Thanks

I have the same problem - the connect button is greyed out and when I try and search for the device while editing the connection it imediatly comes back and says no devices found with a dialup networking profile - i have tried pulling and reinserting the card as well but to no avial...
So removed hotfix B and the BT dial-up started working again in the normal fashion - i.e. pull and reinsert card and then connect. However I noticed that the Network tab was missing - it\'s seems that the Email, Netfront and Opera Icons had removed them selves - before manually re-adding the config files (would have been a little tricky for me) I re-applied Hotfix A - and bingo the icons came back.
So now that I had some icons back I tried to use the apps and I get no DNS routing even though DNS servers are manually inserted into my GPRS connecton - looking at the connection details whilst it\'s up - says no DNS servers specified - any ideas anyone? - can some one jog my memory as to where the config files are stored for each connection so that I can have a look at the file it\'s self?
cheers

Anyone else getting this ??
ya, me too.
is this happened to all of u?
-
I tried using the applet manager and my Z has not been rebooting. However, I did have it reboot once when using NetFront. If I had the Z on the internet right now, I\'d test it some more. However, I think this might have something to do with the screensaver since I had the problem back in Cacko Qt 1.20... so I just turned that applet off.
I love the new US date format!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Maslovsky!!
Can\'t find any other flaws with the ROM yet. Looks really solid to me. I can\'t wait til Tuesday when my Socket BT rev F card comes in so I can try that out.
-
Hi ccrandal
Where did you order a Socket BT rev F from?
-
A guy on eBay was selling 10 rev E and F cards. I told him he should advertise here next time... I was the only one who bid on them.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...DME:B:EOAB:US:6 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5702096059&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:6)
You can try contacting the seller and he may sell offline.
-
Thanks ccrandal
Unfortunately he only ships in the US(as per his e-bay website), *SIGH* what a pity...
-
Probably doesn\'t hurt to mail him and see if he\'d make an exception. When I sell on eBay, I say that I\'ll only sell to US only, but I have made exceptions when people ask me.
-
The new ROM IS cool. So many things work right now. I had to tweak other ROMs for hours just to get my WLAN card to work.
I can only find ONE problem so far:
It has been mentioned before, but no fix.
The orange charge light goes off after a while. The battery IS still charging, and the battery indicator in the tray says so. However, the orange light doesn\'t stay on.
Any ideas?

Unfortuately, no ideas. No one else has reported such issue, so it might be specific to your Zaurus. If the battery still successfuly charges to full capacity, then don\'t bother...
-
Hi maslovsky, thank you so much for this hotfix... the memory applet is beautiful! I was having a good bit of trouble getting my Z to behave as a mass storage device, (i think more so since i installed the 1.21a) but immediately it seems to be better!
-
I have been using it all day, the usb mass storage device driver is working great again!
I haven\'t needed it yet, but the ability to add the swap file graphically is great. I hate to suggest, but the bee\'s knees would be to get the free space tab from the system info included in the memory tray applet. Great work.
-
Sorry maslovsky, it seems that it has stopped working again. Okay, here is my problem in more detail. When i plug in my ipda cable it tries to detect and install the usb network driver (my machine is restricted, so only the mass storage driver that is in winxp works). When i go into the pc link applet it shows it set to sd card. i have tried all combinations of changing back and forth with / without the cable, etc to no avail. It worked all days and stopped just a few minutes ago. I think rebooting causes upset, but i\'m not sure what else. any advice?
-
I have similar issues with the USB Storage feature. (Which I use a LOT.)
Basically, if I reboot, I HAVE to go into PC Link, change to \"PC Link Setting\" and then go back in and change back to \"Storage\" and then it works.
It is like the Z has THREE USB \"settings\" THe USB Storage that works. The PC Link Setting, that works, and then some sort of odd USB \"Network\" setting that it comes up with on its own and that Windoze is very confused by. It seems to come up in this \"third\" configuration after a reboot, and is sometimes hard to kick out of it.
I had no problems like this with my previous ROM. I couldn\'t find any differences in the files in the /etc/hotplug directory between the two ROM\'s. What other files should I look at for changes/problems?
I think the problem exibits itself mostly on Windoze boxes when one is using both the USB Storage and the PC Link Setting options. I switch back and forth a few times each day and use both on the same machine.

I wonder if maybe the orange light goes out when the battery is FULLY charged. In previous ROM\'s, it just stayed on as long as the power cord was plugged in. I\'ll have to drain the battery good and see if the orange light stays on longer. Either way, it works fine, and maybe it is just a feature. It will keep my orange light from burning out prematurely.
I do appreciate this ROM and it is great!

That\'s exactly it, the orange light stays on only until the battery is fully charged. That way you know when you can unplug it (if, like me, you like to \"top it off\" each time you plug it in)

Ok, an update on the USB storage \"issue\":
Every time you reboot, /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype reverts to containing \"net\" instead of \"storage\"
To make it more confusing, the PC Link application still shows the last state that IT set the file to. So if you reboot, it will THINK you are in storage mode, but only by switching to \"PC Link Setting\" and back to \"Storage\" can you get it to set /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype back to \"storage.\"
Does anyone know why /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype goes back to \"net\" every time we reboot? It is a minor problem, so hoping for an easy fix.
ON a side note, I also found that /home/zaurus/Settings/route.conf was set to \"Network\" this morning, instead of USB, even though, again, the \"PC Link\" application said it was set to \"USB I/O\" for PC sync. That seems to be staying put once I fixed it, but just another case of the PC Link app not being in sync with reality.

I will take a look, though it\'s strange that only some people expirience problems with the Net/Storage settings...
-
You need to change the perms on /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype to something less restrictive than it currently is. Sorry I can\'t remember exactly what it was originally, but setting it to 666 will let everyone write to it (and save the value betweeen boots)
EDIT: You also need to check that /etc/hotplug/usbdstorage.conf has perms of at least 664 - I think that they were set to 644
Stu
-
Can confirm the same NEt/Storage quirks.
BTW I experienced this before with other Roms, I dare to say with all included Sharp\'s stock one.
Stubear is probably right: could be a permissions issue.

This should have been fixed by the hotfix B, but looks like not it was not nailed down completely...
Try to update permissions manualy:
su
cd /etc/hotplug
chmod 666 usbdstorage.conf
chmod 666 usbd.ftype
-
Still doesn\'t fix the problem.
I did the above, so that /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype is -rw-rw-rw- and it still goes back to containing \"net\" after every reboot.
I also tried:
chown zaurus:qpe /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype
but that did not help either. It always goes back to \"net\" after a reboot.
PC Link is quite able to set it to what it wants, it just won\'t stay that way through a reboot. As if it is being overwritten during a reboot by some script or process in the boot up process. The time stamp on /etc/hotplug/usbd.ftype also indicates that it is being modified during my last reboot (more recently than usbdstorage.conf or route.conf which both have the same stamp, that being when I ran PC Link before the reboot).
On a side note: How much of a donation do I need to make to you to have you take the white \"SHARP\" screen out of your kernel? I really like your kernel (saves me a ton of work rolling my own), but I\'d much rather see the cool penguin and the linux boot up text scroll by. (Would be even cooler without the penguin so we can see all of the text, but I\'ve researched that and it sounded like even more work to try to change that picture to a smaller/nill one.) What do you think? Taking out the SHARP screen is just one \"X\" in the config, it can\'t cost too much?
Now if I had a nice \"diff\" file based on the kernel source from Sharp that I could use to build a kernel just like yours, then I could just re-roll it with my own options too.
Oh, and the ROM is COOL, these are minor irritations I am bringing up. I just love to make it all \"perfect,\" but overall, I am loving it!

FOLLOW UP: FIX for USB reversion problem!
Ok, I think the problem is in /home/etc/rc.d/init.d/usb
If you change it to read like so:
start)
if [ -x $CONTROL ] ; then
if [ -s /etc/hotplug/usbdstorage.conf ] ; then USB_DEFAULT=storage;
fi
action \"Loading USB modules:\" $CONTROL $USB_DEFAULT
This seems to fix the problem quite nicely. =)
Basically it was setting the USB back to a default at every boot (runlevel change), without checking first to see if we had already chosen what we wanted.
Don\'t give me too much credit. I only found the source of the problem, the actual code to fix it, as simple as it may be, I found in a USB file from another ROM I had been using that didn\'t give me this problem. I just compared the two to see what was different, and then the problem was obvious.

I left Sharp boot logo intentionaly - I personaly don\'t see any use in the scrolling boot messages other than \"coolness\" I would have gotten rig of the init message too if I could, but I did not dig into kernel source too deep to figure out how.
Yes, removing the logo is easy, having ALL messages show up in console is easy too. Replacing or removing default penguin is doable but not as trivial as the other two options.
Anyway, I can build a kernal without Sharp logo for you. What Zaurus model do you have?
If you want to donate - it\'s up to you how much There is a paypal link on my Zaurus page http://my-zaurus.narod.ru (http://my-zaurus.narod.ru)

This is rather strange because the script is from the Sharp default root filesystem, I havn\'t changed it. Anyway, thanks for the solution, I\'ll make sure it gets into the next hotfix (whenever it\'s out)

Well, \"coolness\" is a big part of the Z to me.
I have a 760, and if you want to do it GREAT! But don\'t waist too much time on it, I\'m sure you have better things to do.
I guess I kind of assumed that most Z users were geeks like me and get a kick out of seeing their PDA boot up just like their desktop and watching all of the messages scroll by. I also hate watching \"blank\" screens while waiting. Reminds me of Windows. I\'d rather see what the OS is doing. Makes the wait seem less and gives a feeling like I know what is going on.
Again, though, don\'t do it just for me unless you are bored.
Also, is there still a command that will hault before loading QT and dump to console? I forget what it was.
-
Here here, i would love to see all the action scrolling by as well.
-
OK, if there will be a few people who want such kernel I\'ll build it and package as a separate update. Next week maybe.
Also, is there still a command that will hault before loading QT and dump to console? I forget what it was (http://Also,%20is%20there%20still%20a%20command%20that%20will%20hault%20before%20loading%20QT%20and%20dump%20to%20console?%20I%20forget%20what%20it%20was).
Yes, press the \"/,\" button during Wait... prompt, you\'ll get a list of boot options.
-
I would prefer that as well.
-
Anton,
If you\'d like I can send you a patch to get rid of boot logo, I have it removed in my kernel. Not that looking at scrolling messages are very useful - they scroll so fast, it\'s hard to see anything...

-
Maslovsky, could you possible take a look at the Cacko 1.21 Rom thread (stickied) about my request to non hard-code the [,/] and [.?] keys in the kernel (seeing as you might be working on the kernel)? I would really appreciate it if you could see if it would be possible to change the behaviour of these keys such that they would be modifiable in Keyhelper.
Thanks a million,
Yz
-
I believe that you can already do that. I have. But reverted back because I had problems. If you take a look at /home/root/Applications/cyrillica/english [keyboard] section and remove the 3 lines after [keyboard]. Reboot (or restart Qtopia, I cannot remember). Now the keyhelperconf app can see the keys and you can remap them that way.
Problems I have with /home/root/Applications/cyrillica/english:
1. Xqt some application do not respect the change.
2. Remote application do not respect the change.
X can have its own way of mapping keys and does. There are defaults in the X server, ways to change with xmodmap, etc... I am still working on fixing them.
Problems I have using keyhelper for ./,?. Keyhelper sends events. This really screws up some apps. In X run xev with keyhelper switching , and /. xev reports / as shift ,-down ,-up unshift. This helps some issues, but hurts others. I tracked it down to Xqt default mapping.
What I would like would be someone to explain to me a great detail exactly how the Zaurus determines what keycode/scancode = what character modified and unmodified and how many ways it can be done. I need to get all my X issues resolved.
It would also be nice to have some applications that have their own way to map keyboards (e.g. Xqt) to be excluded.
Thanks.
-
Yzord, Datajerk has it, just go into /home/root/Applications/cyrillica/english and change like so:
WAS:
[keyboard]
\',\' \',\' \'/\'
\'/\' \',\' \',\'
\'?\' \'?\' \'.\'
0 0 0
NOW:
[keyboard]
\',\' \',\' \',\'
\'/\' \'/\' \'/\'
\'?\' \'?\' \'?\'
0 0 0
(If it doesn\'t work, I know there are lines in keyhelper.xml that swap things too, so maybe you need to take those out, I already did.)
and walla!
OR what I did was copy english, to another name and make another keyboard file with the / and , not switched. BE SURE to edit the label in your new file (at the top) or you can\'t tell which keyboard you are in.
Now I just switch between the two keyboards, and just as quick as lightning my , and / switch back and forth! SWEET!
It is amazing!
Who knew I\'d find a use for cyrillica. I don\'t write in other languages very often these days. I wish I had had this baby when I was in Russia, but that was years ago.
Only bad thing is now my Z is back to saying \"AMEN\" all morning. I feel like I\'m in church. Now I know how to change that EN label though.
-
Thank you both datajerk and clofland - this solution works well. I, too, run Xqt, but I dont use it extensively... I guess I\'ll have to see if I can live with the weirdness.

I have few problems with BT CF card bt2000e_cs. When I remove card from slot or make \"software eject\", then I make \"lsmod\", I see:
Module Size Used by
\"bt2000e_cs 12320 -1
Next I insert card. I see \"Used by 0\".
Now I made PAN connection to my desktop computer. It works.
I disconnect and remove card. Zaurus now freezes.
What is wrong?

Glad to hear you\'re going to roll the kernel without the logo!
How is the work going with making the pdaXrom & Cacko kernel compatible? Will it be possible?
Cheers,

Try to use another (default) driver - bt950_cs. Edit /etc/pcmcia/bluetooth.conf card and uncomment entries for bluetooth or ambicom card (whatever you have) and rename bt2000e_cs.conf to .bt2000e_cs.conf. Then restart pcmcia (/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart)

Some progress on logo-less kernel. Turning off the logo was easy. However I must be totaly stupid, but I cant get boot messages to appear Yes I did change the \"console=\" parameter, I\'ve tried different options with no luck...
-
Argh, I'm having a nagging issue with my C760 + Cacko 1.21b.
Everytime I try to connect to a Win2kbox with the USB Storage setting it keeps trying to load the SL-Series3 WDM driver instead of a regular USB Storage driver. This means that I cannot load the Z as a storage card.
I've tried the suggestions on the preceeding pages (that have to do with the usbstorage setting not "keeping" after a reboot), but that hasnt changed anything. I thought it was my computer, but it asks for the same thing on other computers as well. I also had no problems with TCKRom as well as an older version of the Cacko rom (colleague has C760 with older cacko ROM which works in usb storage mode no problem on my computer as well).
That pretty much rules out the computer, so it's gotta be the Z. This is driving me nuts! Any help?

Hi I'm sorry to have to ask this, but could someone point me to how to install this hotfix with my cacko rom???
thanks

The hotfix installs just like a regular program.

itreeye: once you download the cacko-hotfixb.ipk file just click on it and it will install like a normal program. You may need to restart after that but that's all. good luck.

Thanks, I'm gonna give it a try as soon as I get back form my vacation.

Any ideas why ejecting (using the applet) a Bluemonkey (LSE039/12 R2B) hangs an SL-C860 with Hotfix B ?
BTW: The following are true...
Suspend/Resume does seem to eject/reinsert the card, I get the applet messages without a hang.
cardctl eject 0 hangs the unit as predictably as selecting the card for ejection from the card manager applet.
Can't say I tried it without the hotfix but I can say I had the same problems with the Bluez Rev E drivers on zaurususergroup using the stock ROM. I fixed it on those by downloading the Rev D drivers from the community website.
Tried downgrading the bluecard_cs.o file from the archive that worked on the stock ROM, made no difference so I reverted back. Any ideas ?

Andy

OK, well finally 'fixed' my hanging Bluemonkey card (cardctl eject 0 caused freeze) by installing the older bluez_zaurus_2.3.2.4.18d_arm.ipk that worked on the Stock ROM (from the community.zaurus.com site).
Don't know what the diffs are between thie version and the Cacko 1.21b embedded version but it seems to have broken this card (LSE039/12 R2B).
Oh, but with all this messing around forgot to say GOOD JOB ON THE ROM - Very nice !
-
ACTUALLY DON'T TRY INSTALLING THIS PREVIOUS REV DRIVER. only worked until reboot.
Ah well back to NAND restore (of SHARP ROM) - can't waste any more time on this now.
-
There are always some little differences between bluetooth cards. Not having all of them to test, I cannot garantee all of the supported cards will work without problems...
-
Yep, I know and it's really tricky because the vendors are always making slight mods to these cards.
I would like to take a look at the Bluez source, did you include it in the Kernel tarball ?
I could do some comparison between that and the Rev D. driver that you built on the community.sourceforge.net site which did work perfectly with the Stock ROM.
-
Ah, the tarball only includes the patches.
Could you say what base Bluez package you used ?, you only seem to get the hci bits in the Sharp Kernel tarball.

Andy

Or is there a full source snapshot tarball for Cacko kernel with patches applied ? that WOULD be great !
-
We can't seem to get a reply in a seperate thread, so will post here:
I have updated to Cacko 121b ROM, and my AmbiCom CF modem has quit working. I get the error message "CF card typeserial device is busy" when trying to connect to dialup account.
This was posted by another user. I have the same card and the same problem. Any suggestions on how to make this modem work?
I think that I have everything else working as well as before the install. 1.21b is a great piece of work and definitely makes my 860 more useful. Thanks.

I think I've posted this link before somewhere in this forum, but anyway:

Try the following command from console as root:
cardctl suspend

Actually this is a tarball of just the patches and since we don't know what base of Bluez source it should be applied to it's pretty tricky (did you know that the community.zaurus.com site only has source up to rev A but IPKs to to rev D ?).
I can understand that you may not want your feed swamped by lazy people pulling down the complete kernel tree rather than acquiring patches so if you don't want to host a tarball of the patched tree could you please give us some idea where the base sources can be obtained that this patch set works with ?
I have linux-c860-20031107-rom1_10.tar.bz2 from the SHARP site, I presume that's one of the bases.
I also have bluez-zaurus_2.3-2.4.18a_src.tar.gz which contains a kernel patch set that gives a few .rej files when applied so it looks like there's something missing.
Any hints would reaaally be useful.
BTW: Sorry if this sounds like a nag, I think you are doing really great work here and I would like to help if I can (and when I can).
-
Sorry, Maslovsky
Didn't spot the .apply_in_this_order file hidden in the patches directory.
This does patch against the stock Kernel source form the SHARP site.
Will do some digging when I get some time now.

Andy

Thanks. Not complaining. That worked. I did the cardctl and then it dialed, connected, etc. As a interim solution, I will try and create a script with an icon in my applications folder. If there is a way to fix it with serial.opts or similar, please let me know. After reading some previous posts, I tried various cardctl commands, but not that one. Thanks.

OK, here's where I am with getting my rev of Bluemonkey card fixed.
I have found that if I take the binary module 'bluez.o' from http://community.zaurus.com/download.php/5...2.4.18d_arm.ipk (http://community.zaurus.com/download.php/516/bluez-zaurus_2.3-2.4.18d_arm.ipk), rename the symlink on the Cacko ROM, rmmod the existing bluez driver, copy in the aforesaid driver, depmod -a then plug the card everything works well - I can eject the card without any of the lockups mentioned whatsoever and it seems pretty bullet proof.
Unfortunately the bluez.o from this version doesn't seem to initialize something particularly well so following a reboot if I insert the card I get a 0 MAC address on hciconfig . - maybe something isn't getting called to initialize the card here... hmmm.
Sooo, it would seem that an examination of the Bluez source - probably hci_core from the community site and the source of the Cacko ROM would probably let me nail this.
I have the Cacko Kernel tree all patched up and ready to go.
Can't locate the source for the Rev D. driver on the community site though. There seems to be only Rev A source on this site.
Any ideas where I may obtain the source/patch sets for this rev ?
I'm hazarding a wild guess that Rev. D on the community site is based on patch-2.4.18-mh10. Whereas Cacko is patch-2.4.18-mh11, is this correct ?

Just a stupid little error, but your icons are not found but the tab wizard, which makes it impossible to change the names of the default shortcut (it fails with an icon not found error).
Just a heads up

Hi,
as many have pointed out before, great ROM & many thanks! Once I get everything working I will look at your paypal page ;-).
One problem: I cannot get my DLINK DCF-660W WiFi card to work with the 1.21b ROM. I have tried
- with and without WEP
- autoconnect and manual setting
Kismet works beautifully. But trying to connect always results in "network was failed" (by the way, probably not good English?)
My questions:
- has anybody have this combination and
- should the network connection show up as wlan0 or eth0? At the moment, only eth0 is present when kismet runs.
- how should the card be configured manually if it doesn't work automatically?
- does WEP work at all? In this thread (http://zaurus.help4free.de/hteml/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=5134&forum=22) it is contended that WEP doesn't work at all with the 1.21b ROM
Thanks for any information.

Just got a socket bluetooth CF Rev G card off of ebay. I was able to pair it with my T610 phone (from the phone), but don't know how to proceed from here. From within the Bluetooth section in the Networking App I tried creating different connections and connecting to them, but I don't know what to use as a username/password. I tried setting "phone" to the name of the phone (which is set on the phone itself). Nothing seems to work.
Can someone point me to a thread, or give me a crib sheet on how to get this card working on 1.21b? Thanks!!!!!!

I'm planning on sticking with Cacko 1.21b until the next release is available for my C860. I unfortunately bought myself a Socket rev G card off of ebay thinking I was getting a deal. From what I've read on these forums I'm not sure it's worth my time and effort trying to get it to work (I don't have a lot of time to try to get my devices working sadly). Should I sell/donate the card, or has anyone out there got a setup that works?
Your words of support are appreciated

I have that same card and it works fine - Sorry can't remember where on here but it does tell you how to get it working - the only thing that is vital is the fact that you need to pull the card and re-insert after resuming from suspend mode. Sometimes I have to do a search for available Bluethooth devices to re- pickup the phone (I have used successfully with SE T39, SE T610, SE K700i and Motorola V3 all using GPRS on UK O2 network- and roaming abroad from this network.).

This card works fine. Next ROM will have much better support for it as well as for Billition cards.

Would it possible to have a TCP/IP over USB network profile available?
I did everything manually, and ended up having both browsers complaining about the lack of usable interfaces (while all traffic was routed just fine through a desktop).
The PC-link/Network configs are in dire need of an overhaul to unify everything, including network scheme fast-switching, and quick activation.
It would be nice to be able to choose between a normal and a fast-FPU kernel. I don't think there's a compromise between the fast and imprecise and the slow but correct kernels, so being able to choose would be nice.
In the "Files" tab, it would be nice if the delete confirmation popup window used the Cancel and OK hardware buttons correctly (OK= confirm delete, Cancel= cancel delete command).
In the "Files" tab, make the filename truncated at the last period of the filename, not the first. Really irritating when files have several periods in their filename. Best would be to not truncate the filenames at all

How do you like square root out of 8 to be equal 2 with the fastFPU kernel?

Nice. Would you guesstimate it being done before year's end?

We should have it out this year. It will be worth the wait I think.

Hmm, I can't get iptables to work on the Cacko ROM 1.21b. The kernel modules load, but the iptables tool itself gives:
iptables v1.2.9: can't initialize iptables table 'nat': Permission denied (you must be root)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.

Just found (part of) the problem... On checking the /proc/sys/net/ipv4 directory, I noticed that the netfilter subdirectory wasn't there..
-
dwagelaar,
Don't waste your time with iptables. You need to compile a new kernel to use iptables on the 1.21 ROMs then flash your new kernel. The new 1.22 ROM, which will be released soon (no later than three weeks from now, but probably sooner) has working iptables and MANY other improvements.
Hope this helps.
-
Thanks stupkid! Good to know it's coming up anyway, so I can spend my time on something more useful . From what I saw in the screenshots on cacko.biz, the new Kino2 should also be really great. Looking forward to the release of 1.22.

Hi all,
Don't know if this is the right forum to post but...
I've enabled ftp (Cacko 1.21b) but the server keeps replying:
530 Login Incorrect.
Login failed.
I've changed the root and zaurus passwords with the passwd command but that didn't result.
Any help on this?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Best Regards,
Juan

will piro's kernel patch regarding the w100 chip be implemented in the new kernel. This would reallt speedup lots of games. I don't think qtopia can make much use of it though.
I only recently purchased a zaurus c860 and after using Palm OS (clie nx60,vx) i find that the zaurus is not really snappy. This even with double the clockspeed of my clie
could you mention some of the upcoming features in cacko 1.22
thanks
