Title: non-commerical file manager
Post by: omega on June 09, 2004, 06:55:44 am
Hi,

About the only application i\'m really missing is a really good filemanager. It\'s slow work dropping down to the command line just to copy some files around. Is there a good file manager available,  even something like console based like midnight commander?

I\'ve kind of fallen in love with Tree!Explorer QT

It gives Japaneses error messages (well since I don\'t have the fonts on mine, it gives blocks), but otherwise I LOVE it. I have it set up to run with elevated priviledges, so I can move files at will.

Thank you pgas, now how do i access the menus or the shortcuts at the bottom of the screen - for example if i want to move a file? It works really nice though...

You mean with the stylus, I  don\'t think the console support  mouse operation.

Hi pgas, nah i wasn\'t expecting mouse support. I meant how do i select for example option 6 to move a file with the keyboard?

Omega, never used mc before? the shorcuts are F1-F10:

on the page where you downloaded you can read

Remember that the f-keys can be emulated via Escape-Number, that\'s \"cancel\", \"Fn\"+\"Number\" on the Zaurus...

so to move a file use cancel then Fn+6

pgas2, I have used mc before a long long time ago. It still doesn\'t seem to work for me. Whenever i hit Fn + 3 it dims the screen.

What about KCommander3?

Note: It needs the Qt3 lib, which is 9 Megs of size.

try pressing Cancel once, then the number key you need.  I use mc all the time, no problems, esp in Xterm in X/Qt

padishah_emperor, thank you. Working perfectly, don\'t need the Fn key at all.  Is there an Escape key combination on the Z?

I have what seems to be a Zaurus file manager by Sharp (it comes with an icon in exactly the same style of the other Sharp apps. I couldn\'t find my Zaurus CD and was searching on the net for the personal-profile ipk. I eventually found a site relating the Chinese release of the SL-Cxx0 containing all of the ipk\'s from the CD, and the extra file manager one.

I have no idea what the URL of that site is/was, but if anybody wants the ipk, give me a shout. I don\'t want to make it publically available, although I\'ll post the URL if I find it again.

I found the link!

The file manager is the link after Camera.
