Hi,
I know this topic has been approached before, is there a good replacement (non-commerical) that will run under cacko or X/QT? I like Hancom Excel loads, but as regards Word Processor Hancom Word is very poor.
Does ABIWORD work under X/QT?
-
Can\'t say about XQT, but the Abiword 2.0.0 from the pdaXrom site seems to run well (on pdaXrom) but to have all the controls available you have to have it on a virtual screen bigger than the Z\'s - shifting it around with Alt and the stylus. It will resize to fit, and that\'s probably fine for straight-ahead writing even though 1/3rd of the controls are then offscreen, but Abiword really seems designed to expect a minimum of 800x600 in real estate.
That said, it\'s a real, full-featured and well-designed word processor, not a toy like Hancom Word. On a normal system there\'s much to say for it over OpenOffice\'s, too, in terms of feel and ease-of-use.

Has anyone got Abiword running under x/qt? what do i need to be able to do this?
-
Whit : abiword works REALLY fine under pdaxrom. No need for 800*600 screen. It fits just fine.
I would be very interrested in an answer to this question, as the lack of REAL word processing tool under QT is the main reason why i left QT to X.
I say REAL because :
- Abiword has sometext enlightment possibilities (text on the left or right, centered...)
- " has a correcter
- " is compatible with MSword ans Open office
- does'nt delete my documents when i have to reset !!!!!!!!! (happened MMMMMMMAAAAAAANNNNNNNNYYYYYYY times with Ham com !!!!!!!!!!!!!)
So, any idea to use ANYTHING else than it is welcome.

Okay so i downloaded Abiword and am trying to get it to run under X/QT.
First of i got an error about libglade-2.0.so.0 so i downloaded the libglade package, and linked it to /usr/lib.
Next i got an error about libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
I did the following.
cd /home/Qtpalmtop/lib/
ln -s libgtk-1.2so.0.9.1 libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
ln -s libgdk-1.2so.0.9.1 libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0
When this didn't work i even did:
ln -s libgtk-1.2so.0.9.1 /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 but i still get the same file not found... my path in x/qt for LD_Library... points to
/home/Qtpalmtop/lib/
any help?
-
sorry about that. i was missing a . in the symlink. Now it finds that file but says that it is missing libxm12.so.2
Does anyone know where i can get this library?
-
so it's actually libxml2.so.2

There is a thread here about dual booting pdaXrom from SD:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...al%20boot&st=90 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3027&hl=dual%20boot&st=90)
Half way down, Stubear has posted links to gzipped archives of the pdaXrom filesystem. You can find all the necessary libraries there.
There were error messages for about a dozen missing libraries, as I recall. Once I got through those, I ended up with an undefined symbol error. Didn't have time to take notes, so I can't be more specific, but I will have another go soon.
Mike.
