Please use the search function (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=search). :?
(hint: \"vnc server\")

Thank you.

I tried the search function, but I can only find fbvnc server, which I don\'t believe works with X.   The closest I came was this thread:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...ight=vnc+server (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4270&highlight=vnc+server)
But the the vnc package there which includes the vncserver complains about not being able to find Xvnc which is not included in the archive.
Anyone got this working on pdaXrom?

Thanks for the help,

This works for me.
I am using just viewer from that package. Once Ive had VNC server running pdaxrom@760 so it was propably server from that one.
Go to directory and just type:
./vncpasswd
./vncserver

Sorry, piotr, that won\'t work. Xvnc is missing + you\'ll need to install perl for the vncserver script. Xvnc alone is over 1 MB in size.

yes you right. I cannot remember but I somehow run server and it was for sure without perl.
sorry,
Piotr

Has anyone got a     shrinkwrapped instruction set    for installing a vncserver?

It was nice to have this with OZ/PocketWorkstation.DoH and be able to work from my desktop box.

Simon.

Would it be possible to use the PocketWorkstation files/setup?

Simon.

I compiled the new 4.0 RealVNC server/client, I will upload it in the unstable feed if I test it properly and write some shortcuts to the menu. I don't want to bug you with wrong versions.

vncviewer and x0vncserver packages are in the unstable feed!
Hope you like them, it was quite a big job for me to produce them.

Zumi

Ps.: I also compiled/recompiled hnb, mathomatic and gnuplot, they are the RC5 unstable feed too. Gnuplot is a _lot_ faster now with Vector Floating Point.

I for one appreciate it. I've been waiting for these packages.

Thanks!

Hi !

By far the best vnc server for Linux I have been using is x11vnc .  The author says :

"I wrote x11vnc because x0rfbserver was basically impossible to build on Solaris and had poor performance. The primary x0rfbserver build problems centered around esoteric C++ toolkits. x11vnc is written in plain C and uses only standard libraries. I also added a few enhancements to improve the interactive response, add esoteric features, etc. The FAQ contains a lot of information and solutions to problems, but please feel free to contact me if you have problems or questions. "

I have not used it on the zaurus, but this because I have not set up env for compiling to the Z pdaxrom.  It should be plain to compile !

Hello,

x0vncserver was too slow, at least on my c700. . but a big thanks to Zumi anyway!

I compiled x11vnc and it is actually much faster! Thanks for the tip ostense!

Uploaded my binary here if you want to test it. I'll try to make an IPK later.

Good to know there's a faster alternative. It seemed to me quite slow too. That's why I put that text in the description field about the ineffectivness.

I try to compile it in a day or two, or three or more (I don't have time now) and make an ipk if nobody makes it before me.

I installed Zumi's ipk & it worked, but the x11vnc binary is much faster. Thanks to both of you for sharing. Please upload an ipk to the unstable feed when you get a chance!

Cheers,
Jerry

FYI.  You'll want to strip the binary.

Before:
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       772619 Oct  9 04:54 x11vnc
After:
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       227836 Oct  9 04:55 x11vnc

Finally I had time to compile x11vnc and write some userfriendly startup/shutdown script.
Woot! Uploaded to the feed! Uninstall x0vncserver and enjoy the high refresh rate!
