Title: New mounting kit for the C760/C860
Post by: Zuber on June 15, 2004, 08:43:46 am
Hope I don\'t get shot for this. As we sell them and so could be classified as spam...

But not seen any posts for it elsewhere so I\'ll mension it.

Got some new mounts in custom for the C760/C860. Real cool (imho). Only got a couple in to check them out but just ordered a whole load more.

See http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk/cat/product_i...85831f58d60ad41 (http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk/cat/product_info.php?products_id=188&osCsid=6b633d4c25bfa45c485831f58d60ad41)

Hi Zuber

Cool, I think it could come in VERY handy for those wanting to use GPS software.

Question - how sturdy is it when mounted? I can\'t see too clearly from the pic, but is it only the tape keeping it in place?

Cheers!

Hi BalroG,  it seems to be only adhesive strips keeping it in place according to the description. By the look of it though, it should be very possible to more permantently mount it.

Thanks tapjpa,

Always a little careful when posting this kind of thing. I hate spam  :x and don\'t intend to become part of the problem...

BalroG,

Held in place with 2 sticky 3M strips. The spongy ones.

Not sure how well it sticks to dash, since I have not done it that way. Wife did not like the idea of having to scrub the left overs from the stickers off the dash when I get my next gadget...

I\'ve actually used a suction cup windscreen mounting arm and stuck the mount to that. Plan to get some of those in as well.

I\'ll take a pic. of it in my car and post. On that surface it looks very sturdy so probably just as good on the dash.... Done a couple of hundred miles including a few speed bumps no problem

Should be ok for US (We ship there quite regularly). Just check the shipping and payment options available to make sure one of them is ok before filling in all the fields...

Just taken some pics. Will post once uploaded.

How well does it work when the steering wheel is on the other side of the car?

Just kidding

Actually, that is a good point. You have to be a little careful when positioning it so you can still get the stylus out and the console does not get int the way.

Clearly a design flaw by Sharp considering that they drive on the same side of the road in Japan (I think). The stylus does sit quite neatly behind the unit on the left corner as well (by coincidence not design).

People in countries that drive on the WRONG side of the road in left hand drive models need not worry about this
