Title: Dlink 660 wireless card

I am having trouble with a Dlink Compact flash wireless card only once in a while wants to work and is not alwats reconized right away.  What are the proper steps for getting a wireless card working correctly with the zaurus?

I had one of these, and I think you will find with most people who have one will say that it broke on them.  It does work find software-wise, but the 660w overheats and kills itself.  If you let it cool and apply a little pressure to the back of it (above the CF spot) I could get it to work for about 5-10 min, but then it would stop working.  I would reccomend getting another card like I eventually did (I got an SMC wireless card to replace it).  I know, it sucks, many people got screwed with this shotty product.

I also have the d-link 660w, but I\'ve had a completely different experience with it.  I\'ve not had a single problem with mine, and I\'ve had it for about 6 months now.  I use it daily, and leave my Z on with it for hours at a time.

Maybe I got lucky.... then again, I also have a 128mb Sandisk SD card, and have never had a problem with it (while many others have).

I first had the d-link 650w, but that model was quite large, blocking both the stylus and the headphone port.

How would I go about using this card to connect to the internet through the free wireless network in Portland? How do I even know if the card is working right?

For the most part you just need to insert the card, then use the network settings to add a wireless lan (wifi) connection.  For most (if not all) free wireless networks, you just need to select dhcp (obtain an IP address automatically), automatic dns, no proxy, etc.

If you post some details about what rom you are using, I could be more specific with instructions, and possibly provide screen shots.

I hate this card so much that I am about ready to go out and run it over with my jeep.  Good thing I recieved a $30 rebate with it so in the long run I am only out $20 bucks.  If I had it to do all over again I would buy a linksys, my buddy has one and never has had a problem with it.  Thats what I get for trying to save a buck.  First and last D-Link product I will ever buy.  I think mine is the over heating deal too.  Works some time for like 10 minutes and then it dies, but that is only if I can get it to work.  Sorry I am just venting, this purchase has got my goat!

Sorry to hear your having so much trouble with it... though running it over with the Jeep does sound like fun!  Maybe you could take some before and after pictures and post them for us?  I probably shouldn\'t be eggin\' you on, but running anything over in the Jeep sounds like a good time!   :twisted:

Just make sure it\'s out of the Z first,  would hate to see that picture.
