Title: Flashing a Socket wifi card
Post by: InfoAddict on June 17, 2004, 06:52:01 pm
I\'ve been trying to figure out a way to make my Socket Low Power wifi card more compatible with common wifi apps, I had read somewhere that Socket used the Intersil chipset and that I could flash the ROM and achieve my desire. I downloaded WinUpdate.0.7.0 and some other Intersil tools none of which recognize my  wifi card as a Prism card.  I\'ve placed my wifi card in a CF to PCMCIA adapter and inserted it into my laptop (this is how I\'m attempting to flash the rom). The OS detects the card. Some of the other Intersil utilites also see the card yet do not interact w/ it. My main goal here is to be able to run apps like Kismet w/ my socket card. Any suggestions? Am I dreaming?

Hi,

I\'m already using a socket lowpower wifi cf for kismetting, without the need og going through all these flashing stuff.

Just search this forum for kismet and socket, and you\'ll find updated drivers/kernels that allow you to do so. I remember there\'s a kernel built by javaboy that has support for this cf card out-of-the-box.  I think that kernel is for c7xx, but take a look.
