Unstable feed test results. More will follow.
edit: using a Zaurus C860
1. ipkg - bugged
Description: The Zaurus Package manager
Remarks: okay not in the unstable feed, but a couple of bugs.
Problem1: /etc/ipkg.conf contains the stable feed (www.pdaxrom.org/feed under the label \'cacko-unstable\'. The unstable feed is not listed.
Problem2: After a failed installation it doesn\'t clean up after itself. Any following installation suspends with the question to re-install a previously failed package.
Workaround: open console and issue command \'ipkg remove <package name>\'
Is there a fix or update?
2. dillo - mostly ok
Description: basic, small and fast web browser;
Installation: ok
Menu: Dillo appears in the internet menu
Tests:
a. First start: okay - starts with welcome screen. One minor issue is that the screen size is larger than the display.
b. Open www.pdaxrom.org shows the pdaxrom page. :-)
c. \'Book\' button: Bookmark page opens. No idea how to use this. Seems complicated and incomplete.
d. Save page: ok
e. Exit: ok
3. find - ok
Description: the \'find\' commandline utility
Installation: ok
Menu: not on a menu
Tests:
a) \"find\" with no arguments lists all files in current folder and subfolders
\"find / -name find\" returns /usr/local/bin/find
4. frozen-bubble - Installer doesn\'t install dependencies
Description: game
Installation: says okay, but it isn\'t. Requires perl but perl isn\'t installed (shouldn\'t perl be installed automatically)
Menu: appears in \'games\' menu
Tests:
a) run from menu: Fails. Bad parser - perl not installed
Installing perl: success
c) run from console: Fails. \"Can\'t locate SDL.pm...\"
d) Installing sdl-perl: success
e) run from console: Fails. \"Can\'t load \'/usr/lib/perl/5.6.1/auto/SDL_perl/SDL_perl.so for module libSDL_net...\"
f) Installing sdl-net, sdlmixer, sdl-image: success
g) run from console: hehe finally the screen comes up and woot, sound!
Problem1: the window is larger than the screen. (because of taskbar)
h) run from the menu: screen comes up, full-screen. Sound.
i-z) play game, another game, more testing, lots more
Conclusion: the whole dependency thing isn\'t configured, and its additive too.

Thanks for the great testing job - your help is greatly appreciated and it helps out for testing the software from a \"user\" perspektive.
The IPKG/packager manager problems are solved in the upcomming release.

some more testing from me :
Xfce4 : firstly had problem with the ipk located on the unstable feed,couldn\'t install, \"unable to extract from control.tar.gz\" error... then downloaded on the maintainer\'s site and worked fine ... quite a great WM, think i\'ll stuck with it for now on
dillo : seem to have problem loading with xfce at least ... try to load then exit with an *ERROR* : Could not find any font ... dunno if this is a dependancy problem but I don\'t think so (tryed installing the fonts package from main feed ... didn\'t change anything)
aterm : works great, with transparency and so on .... but having a font related error message while loading too ... maybe xfce related too
frozen bubble : no problem as the dependancies where listed on the site
qpmpeg/mpg321 : works fine but seem to need lots of resources as the sounds goes bad when I move another window
stratagus : great , works fluently ... didn\'t have time to test all campaign for the moment ...
supertux : works fine but a little slow
ls : works great, no problem
find : works great, no problem
dudusdl : slower and quite ugly compared to frozen bubble, not fullscreen and did\'nt found the option to have it fullscreen.
more to come soon

aterm : works great, with transparency and so on .... but having a font related error message while loading too ... maybe xfce related too
aterm will give a font error message if what it expects as default (or what you\'ve specified with -fn on the command line) isn\'t found - and fall back to the system default.
Some rough directions for installing new fonts on X in general (window manager shouldn\'t matter) are here: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...c&p=31808#31808 (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=31808#31808)
I always start terms with -fn. My fave is 7x14 on the Z, but if my eyes were younger I\'m sure I\'d get real small.

ThC you will need to install dillo-xft from the stable feed for dillo to work. That\'s what it is complaining about.
I also had problems installing xfce, and had to install manually. But it works great, nice window manager, only thing is you have to make all of your own app links.
I\'m currently running firefox, which is not in the unstable feed. But I look forward to seeing 0.9 now that it\'s out, I believe it is smaller and has some performance improvements. 0.8 takes about 30 seconds to load, but once loaded works good, best browser on the zaurus, especailly full screen with tabs.

I updated the xfce ipkg in the unstable feed with the version that was on my site, I hope this helps. This time i checked with tar -t option the ipk and gave no errors, please tell me if you still have any trouble installing it.
I\'m using dillo with it with no problems.

ThC, on frozen bubble. Don\'t you think that you should be able to install an application with the package manager without having to go to the web site?
The package manager is intended to resolve any dependencies. Therefore the frozen bubble package should not be considered stable. Its installation setup isn\'t complete.
Testing xfce4 - ok
Description: an awesome yet small window manager (1.8MB)
Installation: ok
Menu: not on a menu
Tests:
a) Shutdown matchbox using ctl-alt-del
\"startxfce4\" - xfce starts nicely
Had to look this up from the website. ipkg should have a \'description\' page for each package.
c) Start settings manager - ok
d) Desktop config - ok
e) Taskbar settings - ok
f) Window manager settings - screen is too large. Needs press \'Address\' button to be able to move window up with the pen
g) Desktop workspaces - ok
h) xfce panel - ok
i) start application xmms from panel - ok
j1) start application firefox from panel - fails, \"Could not run command: /usr/lib/mozilla/bin/firefox: Failed to execute child process ... (no such file or directory)
j2) open console and start /usr/bin/firefox - ok but warnings \'Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: \"xfce\"
k) open file manager from panel - ok
Note: while this is a great window manager, it has one huge problem. It doesn\'t update its launcher with installed applications nor is there an easy way to do so. I\'m too lazy to figure it all out manually so xfce will be uninstalled. Too bad

Don't have much time now, but you could take a look at MenuMaker, a python tool to automatically generate several WM's menus
http://menumaker.sourceforge.net/site.html (http://menumaker.sourceforge.net/site.html)
-
That looks interesting.
I tried to install it but I can't get it to work. It seems to be a python problem.
"ImportError: No module named math"
---
Update:
Okay found a thread here (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4936) that solved this problem. Apparently the python2.3.3 package in the feed is not complete. Need to uninstall it and install the 2.3.2 version. The thread has a link where you can download it.
Reinstalled python and try again:
# python ./MenuMaker-0.17/setup.py install
Fails with error in shutil.py, line 37, in copyfile. No such file or directory mmaker.
---
Update2:
Okay, you need to run it in the MenuMaker folder. Eg:
# python ./setup.py install
That worked. At least it didn't show an error.
Next, run mmaker
# mmaker
ImportError: No module named CLI
Bugger
Heh at least pypanel works again now.
