Greetings:
I have a SL-5500 with a 256MB SD card, would like to run OpenZaurus 3.2 and would like some suggestions on which zImage (memory/storage combo) to use.
After the initial installation of OpenZaurus 3.2 is complete I would like to be able to install most if not all additional software to the 256MB SD card if possible (not sure what needs to be done as far as creating directories and links to accomplish this).
What do you think?
Thanks - Jim

I used the 48mb Memory 16mb Storage version on my 5500 when I ran OpenZaurus.
When I tried to use the 64/0 image I ran into problems as my SD card is not very reliable.
The ipkg installer for OpenZaurus was able to install most things to my SD card and create the needed links back to the / filesystem on its own, I dont recall doing anything other than formatting the card as ext2.

I\'ve always run 64-0, using a RAM disk always seems to be a waste to me, especially with flash memeory so cheap (and not getting wiped should you have to reset, etc.).

I am having real problems running any application that I have installed on the sd card. What could I be doing wrong?
The app seems to install OK (generally from the command line) but won\'t run. I have tried creating links manually etc but to no avail. An y help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

What\'s the app?
What\'s the error?
Have you tried running \'ipkg-link mount /mnt/card\' to refresh the symlinks?

I started with a 32/32 but found I was creating swapfiles to view divX files on OP2 so now I use a 40mem/24storeage as a trade off. I also found problems installing to SD then I realised that VFAT dont support sym links so gave up as since I cannot get the USB drivers running on my WnMe box I can only transfer data using the SD card and cant use any other format for the SD card.

I used to run OZ 3.2 on my 5000D (like a 5500, but half the memory). I used the 32-0 image and had a 128M SD that I formatted as ext2. At first I put /home, /opt and /root on the card (as described here: [a href=\"http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31\" target=\"_blank\"][a href=\"http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31\" target=\"_blank\"][a href=\"http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31\" target=\"_blank\"][a href=\"http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31 (http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=31)[/a][/a][/a][/a] ). Later I did a pivot_root scheme (as described here: www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=192 (http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=192)), this way everything installed to and was run from the card (which is noticeably slower). Unfortunately, I did have some reliability problems with SD/MMC cards - some of them seem to not like ext2 or the Zaurus, and the pivot_root scheme let me pop the card out and boot to 'stock' OZ 3.2, where I could mount the card and try to fix the filesystem. I've had so much trouble with SD/MMC cards that I tend to just install apps to it and keep my documents on CF.

I also have a SL-550 and 256SD card. I use OZ 3.2 64/0.
Have a look here https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...?showtopic=4514 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4514) for my install script.
As opt and home are moved there first, most things are installed on the sd card.
