Trying to get a feel for uses of Z... ANY Zaurus.
Please check out my next poll for type of Z owned.
-
Notes & Project Management/Todos - IQNotes, tkcMemo and Todo (not really PIM stuff)
But I also use it for games, music, web browsing and email
-
you really are bored with all these polls and questions. I must no be too far behind since I read them all. PIMs are the main reason I need a PDA (I have no memory), but I use the Z for unix admin/windows admin and spreadsheet/word stuff too.
-
I have to say right now web surfing has been one of the main uses I have for my Z so far. THough it has beenr eally nice to be able to loign to any of my Linux or Solaris Server as long as I have a WiFi connection and do some quick admin...but then again I have only had my SL-6000L for a little under 2 weeks...
-
PIM apps is technically my Z\'s \"main\" purpose, but it logs more hours playing mp3\'s while commuting and, in the past week, playing games using zfceu.
-
It would have been nice to be able to check more than one item, since I do many of those items.
My primary purpose for my Z (SL-6000) is notes. I keep a journal of my activities (Sys Admin, work, life in general). I use Zeditor for this.
I also listen to Oggs, and the occational MP3, as well as serve web pages when my Z is at home (and connected to my home wireless network).
I also use it to read web-zines off line, which I yank down with wget, and later read with Opera.

Web and email is my primary use, but for email, naturally you also need a little bit of contacts (PIM) plus PIM for calendaring is second most used use.
Rest is for word and excel use (once a wekk maybe).
4th would be music and watching my digital images straigth from my camera.
-
I use it a lot to keep track of my personal finances(I use Jabp), next Ko/Pi(such a wonderful application! Kudos to the author) to keep track of my todos and events. Then, web browsing and listening mp3s.
-
doing quite a bit of everything listed in the poll ... except voice recording which I don\'t need ... btw I use my Zaurus as a \"palmtop\" or \"micro-laptop\" or however you may want to call a \"full featured computer in my pocket\"
-
I use my Zaurus for all of the items on the list, including: Web Development, Remote Access to Servers I maintain, etc... Eventually it will replace my current laptop.
Long live Super 860, my favorite superhero!
-
i basically do the samething. i use vim to write the journal and burp to encrypt it. i also have a password file - i know there are password management programs available. but i prefer to keep everything in one file.

ebooks, notes, some programming and of course movies, mp3s and games - the order depends on what takes my fancy at any given time.
Currently playing Sam and Max hit the road on ScummVm, just finished reading The DaVinci Code on opie-reader

Use a 6k for a combo of - network admin, Wireless network admin (war-walking my own net), web / email, and writing documents on the go thanks to my stowaway wireless keyboard.
-
Wow, 400% for PIM apps alone. Must be that new math...

My primairy use is as a soaring flightcomputer. I'm the original author of Cumulus (http://cumulus.kflog.org), a soaring flightcomputer written for the Zaurus. MP3 are my secondairy use, sometimes at the same time
-
Project managment, journal, spreadsheets galore, PIM, playtoy, learning more Linux, trying to learn some Japanese, executive secretary, 3rd brain hemisphere, chess advisary, cyber portion of this old cyborg.
-
I think 'Soaring Flight Computer' is the coolest response.
I use my c860 mainly for system administration. SSH is a good tool. As well, I like the typical games, mp3s and movies.
Is it just my Zaurus, or does Ko/Pi load really slow for other people? It looks very useful, but the fact that it takes a minute to load doesn't help.
-
reading is my number one use on the zauruses... ive read over 1000 ebooks on mine and the jogdial on the 860 makes it even better!
Wikipedia via zbedic (without net connection) is my other fav. use, havent lost an argument in months :-)
(Oh, and OT - kopi looks great, but i stick with qualendar cos it loads really quick...)
