I'll start:
I'd like to see a native, non-cramfs sdk.... even if it's 150mb. I'd like to see it have
gcc 3.3.x (and perhaps even 2.95).
A relatively decent/recent java + sdk.
nethack + qt support (ie: not just ascii or x nethack)
angband *and* zangband ... these seem to want to compile a lua (tolua?) and then
exec this during compile -- the cross compiler confuses this process -- hence the
desire for a native sdk, etc.
non-busybox implementations of each of the busybox apps.
man pages for all apps.
latest xfce (4.0.5?) + goodies.
xscreensaver + hacks
I'm sure I'll think of more...

KDE for Z. haha. jk.

and i would like a 8Gb Micro drive to have all this fitting in, and a million dollar, and a brand new home (my 35m² sucks...) and i want everyone on earth to call me "almighty alan"...
and to pdaxrom team : i would like, please, mplayer to work just fine, without having to change playing configuration everytime i try a new file...
PS: dear father christmas, can you please ask them to have VLC working ? You're cool, i love your job...
-
Ok
I'd like to have a TODO-List for/of pdaXrom.
And a kernel, working for pdaXrom _and_ CackoQT at the same time.
Or rather, a pdaXrom, working with the CackoQT ROM Kernel.
I also would be fine, if there is a possibility, to run QTE/QPE/GPE on top of pdaXrom. I want to have some _fast_ working PIM apps. Xfce/matchbox/fluxbox/wmaker etc. are to desktoplike to use them as a PDA environment for me, so I'd still like to have QTE/QPE/GPE
Finally, I'd like to know, why my Zaurus has a dead pixel (red one) in the middle of the screen, when running the pdaXrom kernel, but the display is fine, when running the CackoQT-Kernel.
thanks, guys

As I've said before ( https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...topic=2839&st=0 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2839&st=0) ): Qtopia apps support, more drivers, more browsers, more office apps, better emulation of DOS and other platforms. Now I'd like to add: GSM/GPRS GUI tools and dialer, good GPS program with downloading of the vector maps, X and file manager better than Matchbox. The emulation of .NET (or Palm, or PPC) would be just great (though origins do suck... )

I'm not sure what the diff is between that and your second version ...
but the second one is ".1" in that dir.
both angband and zangband just need the x86 tolua to compile.
I may just go do that myself.... but thanks!
I'll test this out tonight.

ps: see the status update on the new rom...

KDE for Z. haha. jk.
How about GNOME 2.6 running off a 16MB MMC?

sheesh. can we not waste this thread, please?

some handwriting app ? like xstroke or can't we use the one from myPDA (which not seem to be qtopia based) ?
I also like the idea of a SDK rom with all the gcc tools and an include dir not write protected
-
sheesh. can we not waste this thread, please
audacity would be good
and a GTK text editor which is not either ancient or called emacs
There, I hope that is [span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']REASONABLE[/span] enough

I think you got the url wrong.
It's at:
http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/pdaXrom/....5_armv5tel.ipk (http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/pdaXrom/misc/misc/angband/angband_3.0.5_armv5tel.ipk)
Thanks for the compile. This is wildly off-topic, but I'm off to try it on Xqt!

A relatively decent/recent java + sdk.
I would love to see something newer than the 1.3.1 blackdown. As far as I know (would love to be proved wrong!), there is nothing newer for the arm and X around.
Come on Sun. We are never going to really have write once, run anywhere till you open source Java. Yeah right, like they're reading this ...

How's about a Texas Instruments Calculator emulator (for the Ti-92+)?
Something like XTiger:
http://www.d.kth.se/~md94-jmi/tiger/ (http://www.d.kth.se/~md94-jmi/tiger/)
http://xtiger.sourceforge.net/ (http://xtiger.sourceforge.net/)
or TiEmu:
http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tiemu/ (http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tiemu/)
I looked at it a long time ago, but had troubles with the dependencies (back in those days there was no readily available GTK+ for the Z amongst other things).

Hi again..
I compiled nethackqt and xstroke for pdaXrom:
http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath (http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath)

i would really apreciate "Project : Starfighter". It's a very good game. Do you think it's possible ?

I totally agree with jabbath, a kernel that allows dual booting of pdaXrom from Cacko would be ideal. Or the ablility to run Qtopia on top of pdaXrom (the inverse of running X/Qt on Cacko ROM), it would be nice not to have to reboot to move to and from pdaXrom.
Cheers,
Jerry

Opie once ran native on X. You could have individual applications running on pdaXrom. We would be glad to see someone resurrecting this ability.

maybe :
ethereal
uae
smbd
some javac

Hi again..
I compiled nethackqt and xstroke for pdaXrom:
http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath (http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath)
ok, it's not in the IPK yet, but put "QT_COMPACT=1" in $HOME/.nethackrc
ie: echo "QT_COMPACT=1" >> /home/root/.nethackrc
Thanks Warwick Allison for that pointer.
See: http://zaurus.spy.org/screenshots/scottyelich/pdaXrom/jpg/ (http://zaurus.spy.org/screenshots/scottyelich/pdaXrom/jpg/) for nethack with QT_COMPACT=1 set.
Scott
ps: links -g beats the HELL out of dillo -- not sure why the color grab there looks green, it wasn't that
way on the screen. Also, screenshots appear to have some jpg loss/blur -- that's from the conversion --
the original screens are NOT like that (ie: they are crisp)

I agree.
Mickey -- should this just be a straight forward compile of OPIE libs?
Scott

Is anyone interested to recompile qpeGPS for pdaXrom??
qpeGPS (http://qpegps.sourceforge.net/)
-
Yes, that would be very nice. In fact, we don't have a single program for GPS on pdaX. As soon as this program is recompiled, I'll try to get some money and buy CF GPS card to test it. Also we'll need a program to download maps for different regions of the world (e.g. not only N. America or W. Europe).
-
quake
qpeGPS ?
yes....it could be useful
-
Gpsdrive for the familiar x11 will untar and run on PDAXROM.
GPSDRIVE FOR X11 PDA (http://www.kraftvoll.at/software/pda.shtml)
Just go to the directory you untar to and start with ./gpsdrive!

No. If it was that simple, we would have have done it already.
It was X11 compatible in the days of 0.9.x. Some things have changed since then. Noone bothered to look into though.
-
Perhaps someone could ipk opiereader for pdaX? this was ported at one point, but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Also a bedic port would be nice...
-
I'd like Portabase ported.
