Hey everyone. I have been talking to Sash and am now part of the Dev Team for the X11 ROM. I think right now its just me and him, but we are going to have games for the first release. So i am starting a list of games you\'d like to see ported to it as i will probably work on porting a lot of apps for the X11 rom for the release. thanks

I must have something like froot (bustamove/bubble bobble).
-
I\'d love to have a copy of llamatron on my Z
Mojotron would do nicely! http://mojotron.sourceforge.net/ (http://mojotron.sourceforge.net/)
Thanks!

would you be able to port this bubble game?

Pingus would be a fantastic addition to Cacko Linux

-
Freeciv would be good, but i think someone mentioned here [before the data loss] it had already been ported?
-
Freeciv was never completed!

I am not sure if it ever will be.
The guy porting it is converting it to qt which is very time consuming, but the original has an x version which may or may not compile with the sash x11 rom.
I don\'t have a c7x0 yet so I cannot try it.

the freeciv ipk available for the cacko-x11 rom is a cross-compile of the gtk/x11 client, i beleive...
we need more emulators ... currently, the snes9x ipk for x11 on zsi works pretty well for snes roms, but there\'s no x11/sdl visualboyadvance, which is something im trying to remedy... cross your fingers!

My personal recommendation instead of working on games is work on getting the PIMs to sync with a PC. IMHO the Zaurus is alot of fun, but some of us really need syncing with Outlook, etc.
-
enki,
You have just given me another reason to get a c7x0 zaurus. If you get the gameboy advance working as well, then I will HAVE to buy one when my bonus arrives.
The only question then would be \"which one?\"

Well, unfortunantly our X11 rom isn\'t really aimed at being used like a normal PDA rom, but more so like a regular Computer Desktop. I will have to ask Sash about possiblygetting some pims.

omin0us,
Admittedly this rom is not like a normal pda rom; it\'s an awful lot more than that. But I\'m not sure that means pda functions should be ignored. The X11 rom is cool in that it\'s more than a pda rom in the same way that the Zaurus is more than a pda. But still, the Zaurus is a tiny thing and it\'s made to be carried around with you so it\'s just a useful place to have your address book and calendar.
Although you\'re clearly aiming pretty high with this rom, it would be awesome if the basic and useful pda applications could be maintained along with all the other fun stuff. How difficult would it be to get KOrganizer/Embedded running on there? That would do the calendar part admirably. Do you think there could be a list for applications in general people would like in the final release?

I think a half-life / UT port would be great!
I also think it would be good for the rom to have something better than framebuffer X11, Kino2 for the Sharp ROM\'s has some fancy acceleration code in it that perhaps you could use to speed up the X11 display? The slowdown is particularly noticable when you drag windows around the screen.

I would like to see Shisen sho, a chess game, a solitaire of some sort as well as a spreedsheet.

The X11 ports are relatively easy as long as they don\'t rely on asm files, etc.
I\'m also interested in PIM apps, what is available under X11 (preferably vanilla X11 without GTK+ etc.)?
Actually this ought to be moved to a new thread rather than trampling over the named topic in this one.
BTW, a bomberman clone would be nice, even better would be a bomberman clone which can run over a network.

Lardman/Simon look in the feed - Xblast is ported and works with network..
-
Cool, now I just need to get an X11 based (GCC 2.3) ROM for my 5500 .....
-
It would be totally awesome if someone got dosbox to compile! I tried, but I got some sort of \"internal compiler error.\" There was no specific indication of what went wrong. I was running gcc from the command prompt, having killed X and xdm to free up RAM on my SLC750.
Even if it could only manage to emulate a 33MHz 486, that would be great for playing old games like civ1 and colonization.

While Dreaming - I\'d like MOHAA, UT2003 and Quake Arena as well. It sure would be easier to drag around to lan parties than my current gaming rig.
Seriously though

I know you\'re looking for games here, but without a PIM app, I just can\'t consider the X11 rom. Thats one of the basic functions I bought my Zaurus for. Is there any way to port the OZ PIM over - I love the fact it stores everything in XML.

Anyone want to try a game of xblast over the net? I\'m in PST timezone and am usually available after work (6pm).
-
offroadgeek - i have played it between a pc and zaurus (760) and XBlast works like a charm :-)
-
laze - what time zone are you in? I think it would be cool to try with multiple Z\'s... first I need to learn how to play xblast...
btw - it looks like we\'re missing a dependency for gnumeric - libgnomevfs-2. You\'re probably in the middle of updating the packages/site.
-
I don\'t maintain the tech. part of the ipks - but the problem with the ipk builder (check install) is that it doesn\'t automatically make the depends.
btw. im in GMT+1
-
e-mail Sash about the missing dependnecy, He was just barely building that earlier this afternoon. So he might have forget to put one of them up.
