I can confirm that kphone/pi works fine with normal SIP voip based product - on cacko for 860.

see other threads about skype one day maybe if we're lucky

What about GnoPhone (http://www.gnophone.com/)?

Would there be any complications in compiling this for Zauruses?

This was designed to work with an * gateway, has anyone experienced whether this is any better or worse than kphone?

I think it'd be very hard work to port. The home page is very lacking in information about what it needs to build - is it Gnome based - the name implies so? If so, you'd be rewriting it. If it were KDE based, at least the design methodology would make the design portable even if the UI had to be comprehensively adapted.

I would guess it'd not work too well on 640x480 display, let alone anything smaller.

like I said kphone works: [a href=\"http://www.wirlab.net/kphone/]http://www.wirlab.net/kphone/[/url]

here's a big list of SIP phones: http://www.iptel.org/info/products/sipphones.php (http://www.iptel.org/info/products/sipphones.php)

If I may respond politely: Complete and utter bullshit!!!
If gnome's design methodogy is so unportable, why are the nokia770 and my c700 using it? Please check the world around you before spreading your nonsense.

calm down, calm down.

What I meant was, if you want to convert a gnome program to run on QT, i.e. default Sharp ROM.

Go ahead, build gnome for Arm and then gnophone; let me know when it's working.

He's not spreading non-sense, he just supposed wrong.
Politeness by default goes a long way.
