Title: Driver for SL5500 not found with upgrade install
Post by: cavit8 on December 09, 2003, 07:10:21 pm
Hi all

I\'ve upgraded my SHARP ROM, but I don\'t seem to be able to find the driver.  Following the instructions at myzaurus.com, everything seemed to be going fine. A USB driver is installed from windows c:/windows/inf as I recall, but a driver for the SL5500 can\'t be found. I\'ve pointed it everywhere I can think of.

Any help would be appreciated....

Cheers

I assume you\'re talking about a Windows USB driver. Try this archive, I don\'t know whether it contains the new USB drivers, but it\'s certainly large enough: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...q=getit&lid=121 (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=UpDownload&file=index&req=getit&lid=121)

Thanks, I\'ll give that a try....  It seems two drivers get installed, an USB which goes fine, then it searches for one for the device SL 5500 to no avail....  Forgot to mention I\'m using 98 SE... I\'ll try the mondo bundle

Cheers

Well, I tried the package you linked to and another one, with no joy. Win 98 still seems unable to find a driver for the SL5500.  I\'ll just have to start again (again) and see what comes up...  It\'s kind of annoying as I had everything working fine with the original software...  I may try reinstalling that then go through the upgrade again to see if that works...

If I remember correctly only one driver is installed until you switch your Z to TCP/IP (in the PC Link settings applet), then the PC detects it and installs the SL ethernet device driver.

I may be wrong though, it\'s been a while.

I agree with lardman.  If you installed drivers from the original CD, by switching to TCP/IP, it tells the Z to use the old method of syncing.  This should then allow 98 to discover and install the correct drivers for your Z.
