Title: Sync problem - 5500 running OZ won't sync
Post by: Guest_Vash_the_Stampede on July 06, 2004, 01:26:19 am
Okay...I just flashed to OpenZaurus from Sharp Rom 3.10 today.  The flash went great, but I can no longer transfer anything back and forth.  I've been syncing to a Win98 machine just fine with the Sharp Rom.  Any help?

When I put the Z in the cradle, windows stops responding (mouse moves, but nothing else) for a short time, then continues normally.

Qtopia Desktop doesn't detect the Z.

The OPIE networking setup app shows an Ethernet connection with the proper IP address (192.168.129.201).

I went to the dos prompt in windows and pinged that address...all timed out.  Pinging from the Z fared no better.

I'm not sure where to go from here, as my experience with Linux is extremely limited, as is my experience with networking.

NM now...for any noob like me in the same situation, here's the tutorial that I found after a lot of Google that actually worked.

Thanks to whoever you are for posting that.

I wish this was better documented...some people (like me) don't understand how ethernet works and need it explained in simple terms, as the tutorial explains it.

Problem solved, the Z syncs both ways.
